Dishwasher lubrication?

Totally random, but car related question: I ran some particularly grubby car parts through my dishwasher the other day. The parts came out clean as a whistle, but now the dishwasher wheels grind just a little, like they need to be cleaned and greased, or something. Anybody else have this problem? Anybody else find a solution?

The wheels on the rack? Sounds like they just have some grit in them - nothing an airhose won't blast out.

As for grease, anything you put in the wheels will washout over time. We have some marine grade, 100% water resistant stuff but over time with all that soap and hot water it would still wash out.

Well now I _do_ feel a little silly. (sheepish) I just pulled the dishwasher apart -- sure enough, the wheels come off with a little assistance, and they clean right up. Thanks for the help, Lube.

When you are married, Dan, you will need to equip your garage with a dishwasher for parts and tool washing, a refrigerator/freezer for beer and cold cuts and frozen bearing races, and an oven for the powder coating, etc. Just like you wouldn't like seeing a hamburger in your transmission, ladies don't like to see disassembled CV joints in their dishwashers.

Marriage is liable to be expensive, then. Or maybe I'll just keep my old appliances as I upgrade them out of the kitchen. You know, the "trouble" gets the shiny new stove, while I get the old one for the garage. You're brilliant, Superman, what a great idea!

In any event, it sounds like you could survive for a month or more in your garage.

Dan, my remarks should in no way be construed to suggest or recommend or encourage matrimony. Still, of all my friends you probably head the list of "most likely to fall victim to the matrimony curse." And since I have been advised that females loathe greasy tools and parts in their territory (female territory consists of the entire kitchen area and sub-areas to include at least every area within what are called the "legal property boundary.....check with your local county assessor's office for a description) with the possible limited exception of the "garage area" which is defined as that portion of the garage in which the female expresses a specific interest in not controlling.

Regulations may change with no prior notice.

You can cut a large brake line in half, and thread it into the end of a blow gun.
Make a 180deg end with the other, glue the bases, and wrap tip with tape.

So ... I guess if I get married, I can't sit in the living room rebuilding a transmission on the coffee table while watching Band of Brothers? I may have to reconsider...
