Any Pelicans going to Thunder over Louisville this weekend?
Just wondering if there were going to be any Pelicans at Thunder over Louisville this weekend? I'll be hanging out at Joe's Crab Shack, but would up to meeting anywhere on the lawn to knock back some beers with some fellow Pelicans

It is the celebration that marks the beginning of the Kentucky Derby festival. It starts off with a spectacular air show over the Ohio river mid-morning, and concludes with the largest fireworks display in North America in the evening.
Imagine 600,000 people along the banks of the Ohio, all in a 1/2 mile stretch! It is one he!! of a party.

The festivities are centered around the river side park in Louisville Ky. There are a bunch of paddle-wheel boats that sell VIP tickets years in advance for front row seats. We actually have VIP tickets to Joe's Crab Shack right on the river, so the view is incredible. We usually spend a few hours walking through the park to check out the... um.... sights. It is not uncommon to see drunk college girls flashing the live bands that play off and on throughout the day.
The air show never disappoints! With historic Mustangs, new war birds, biplanes, you name it they are usually there, and do LOW fly-bys over the river. The fireworks are launched from the west bridge and 2 huge barges that are parked in the middle of the river. The Finale is an extensive barrage of silver salutes that actually makes your chest rattle, and makes it difficult to breathe from the shock waves. I've lived up here for a long time and never heard of this. Can we get together down there on saturday or ??. What time are you going down to L-ville, where to meet, etc. This weekend looks great as far as weather, so it's a go. Send me a PM on your plans. thanks

We'll be leaving this evening for Louisville. We have a routine for Saturday. It usually starts off with a trip to Shooters Supply and check out what they have. (A great gun shop to goto while in Louisville). Next we have lunch at a great Irish Pub called Molly Malone's (Guinness on tap!!).
We usually head down to the waterfront around 2:30. I can meet anywhere along the waterfront between 3:00 and 9:00 when the fireworks start. Probably the best place to meet is in front of the beer garden, just inside the gates to the waterfront park.
