I don´t have any actual facts and figures, but there have been a few of those in my family during the years. Still quite a few around here in their home land. The owner of our local gas station, now retired and in his seventies, still takes his daily slow ride around the village in that model. Same car he drove when I was a kid. The different models from that era has been very popular converted to hot rods of all kind. As a matter of fact, not far from where I live there is a very small village - Vallåkra - that has been the Mecca of Volvo and SAAB street rod builders in Sweden for many years. I think you could probably Google the village name and get information.

You can check out www.brickboards.com

Used parts are still plentiful, you can use later B20/B20E engines as an easy swap and 4 speed overdrive gearboxes.

That is one great looking car, wish I had one in the stable. I've got plenty of old gas pumps in stock, but not many old cars.

Thanks, guys, for the links. Plenty of research to do. My wife wants a wagon, so I showed her these pictures and she's in love. Would be pretty cool to have something like this to scoot around in.

That is one beautiful design. Nothing that isn't necessary and clean, flowing lines. Would love one out here.

+1 on Brickboard. Volvos have a big following. I had a P1800ES and you could buy pretty much anything you needed to do a resto. I believe 122s are likewise supported. Do some searches for suppliers. They are out there.

122's are awesome cars, built like a tank, I owned 2 of them yrs ago. A few things that you should know...they have no timing belts or chains, they are gear driven. The crank gear is steel, never will wear out but the cam gear is nylon and it lasts about like the timing belts. When the gear breaks it doesn't wreck anything just need to re- time it.

Another problem is they have crappy brakes, other than that these cars are indestructable, the motor is just a 4 banger tractor motor, easy to work on and pretty safe to in when involved ina accident.

I totaled one out yrs ago, just finished rebuilding the carb and driving it on a narrow 2 lane coming into a left hand corner, was kinda over the line and near the apex saw a car coming at me, hit the brakes hard but slid on some loose gravel and went off the road. The road was about 8-10 feet above a apple orchard so I landed on top of a apple tree, uprooted the tree and landed on the roof. No seat belt on and I just crawled out the rear window which was broken. No injury just a totaled car and I bought 3 apple trees for the farmer.

I like the lines but I thought the wheels would have to go until I noticed that the car is tricked for the track or just made to look like that with a lower profile and those seats?

Looks like its in great shape. Wouldn;t take much to get rid of the art deco gansta feel and bloom it to retro. Get ride of the wheels and tires, cover the tranny for Petes sake! Other wise I like it.
