Stories like this just make me feel all warm and fuzzy

Man with concealed-carry permit kills robbery suspect in Cleveland
Tuesday, April 24, 2007 4:30 AM

Associated Press
CLEVELAND—A man who has a permit to carry a concealed gun shot and killed one of two teenage robbery suspects he encountered on his front porch, police said.
City prosecutors decided yesterday that the 25-year-old Cleveland man was justified and would not be charged in the shooting Saturday night of 15-year-old Arthur Buford, a freshman at John F. Kennedy High School.

Buford and another teen approached the man on his porch and one of the youths pulled a gun, prompting the resident to pull his gun and shoot Buford several times in the chest, police said.

Police took a .40-caliber Smith and Wesson from the man as evidence, according to a police report.

Toby Hoover, director of the Toledo-based Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, said she had not heard of any other fatal shooting involving someone who has a permit to carry a concealed gun under the state's 3-year-old law.

About 30 youths gathered Monday at the intersection where Buford died and set up a memorial. His cousin, Tameka Foster, 21, questioned the decision against prosecuting the shooter.

"They let that man run out freely," Foster said. "My cousin is dead."

Buford's alleged accomplice fled after and shooting and has not been caught. Police believe a .38-caliber handgun they found in the mail chute of a nearby house belonged to Buford or the other suspect, Lt. Thomas Stacho said.

Lets see... youngster carrying a gun trying to rob someone, and with a sister named Tameka. Why am I getting the idea that this is one of Jesse's and Al's followers?

Did anyone else see 60 minutes on Sunday? The part where the blacks nationwide are refusing to talk to the police when a crime is committed? Its called "no snitch" and all the rap star's are pushing it, so the rank and file refuse to assist the LE when someone is killed, robbed, raped and so on...

These people who are assisting crime by refusing to help need a wake up call...

Good. I still yearn for the day when people can actually CC again here in Kalifornia. I doubt it'll ever happen, but one can hope.

Re-elect that prosecutor. He's got it right.

Tough to get warm and fuzzy over two dead teenagers. I bet the householder moves away before someone goes after him. He did have every right to defend himself. But this is a sad case that shows social breakdown at it's worst.

It just goes to show how privileged these people believe they are. They're logic tells them that the victim should really be the perp.

What am I missing here, I can't for the life of me understand this thinking.

That 60 minutes show identified exactly what the problem is in the inner cities. People get the society that they want. I think 90% of the inner city gang and crime problems would go away if the people living there said "I'm mad as Hell, and I'm not going to take it any more".

it might help if a parent knew what their children were doing or better still cared what they were doing. It shouldn't be the neighbors responsibility to raise someone else's children.

I'm sure the "youths" had a good reason for committing the robbery. You know, root causes, Halliburton, all that stuff.

Im not bonkers about CCW, but good for that guy. Seems like more of a "Make my Day Law" thing anyway.

If he had shot the other kid in the back as he ran away, he'd probably be in jail, which is stupid.

I'm just not feelin to sympathetic for the kid's family, either. "He was a good kid, blah blah blah, he just was robbing people with a gun because of the blah blah blah."

He had a rough childhood.

It's because we're an oppressed people.

It's the fault of society.

Blah, blah, blah. . .

I can't wait to hear the rationalization B.S. that comes out of this one from the criminal sympathizers.

I think it's tragic when anybody is shot and killed. A family is greiving.

But even though it's tragic, I'm glad the good guy is the one who is still alive. Maybe the second thug that got away will decide not to try that again. I can only hope...

I'm amazed that a guy that sticks a gun in somebody's face gets any sympathy from anybody.

I don't think they get any sympathy. Talking about root causes becomes "sympathy" to some people or something, when it's not.
