Ferdinand and Elephant was the same vehicle and only use the 90 or so chassis that Porsche had designed in his failed bid for the Tiger contact. There was a general order in 44 that redisgnated the Ferdinand's to Elephant's. Hardly anything like a tiger tank. They were heavy and severely underpowered but effective at range and only when supported with other armor and infantry.

Elephant

Lets face it... Porsche is engineering all kinds of things these days....
I think they are even designing lighters.... But, when it comes to road going cars I wish they would stick to their sports cars. Sure technology could be found developing SUV's and SEDANS, and I am sure a twin turbo Cayene could win the Paris to Drakkar.... I just feel like a guy whose listened to a Rock band all his life that has changed their "Style" and "Sound" to be able to sell more albums. Sure they will get a new legion of fans (that will never understand the old) but what are we supposed to do when we don't get the new..... I know when the soccer mom at the gas pump in her Cayene says "Oh I see you have a Porsche, Ive got one of them too..." You can smile and say "Yeah....sure you do....!

While the primary contractors for the Pzkw VI were Henschel & Krupp, Porsche did submit prototypes before the contract was awarded, and several of the production tanks were completed using the slightly more curved-front "Porsche" turret.
Sorry brother but Byron changed his picture. The one he had up was from the recently recovered German T-34(r) that came out of swamp in Poland I think.

That is correct I was wrong the 1st time, Dave pointed it out, I correct, thought I thanked Dave, but see I missed it. This is what I 1st posted

BTW, it is Porsches engineering & design arm that has not only kept Porsche independent, but the doors open in the late 80s, early 90s.

Are you driving 924?/ Porsche designed that first for VW. By the late 80s, Porsche wasn't in the best financial shape, had it not been for the design arm, they would have been taken over by another company DYK, Porsche designed the engine in the V Rod for HD??

My 993 would beg to differ. It is sublime, IMHO.
