That would be the correct answer if Stuttering John were the speaker.

Not sure what response you expected to this, "however....please allow me to retort!"

On the subject of grammar and punctuation; I am no expert BUT there are a few things I read here and all over the place that DRIVE ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In no particular order:

The indiscriminate subsitution of "then" and "than" - I've even seen this in national publications. Are you effing KIDDING me? You don't know these two words have entirely diffrent meanings? My car is faster "then" yours?

"Your" in love? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. That is supposed to be a contraction of "you are", hence you're.

I've got to repair the "breaks" on my car. Again, two entirely different words with different meaning.

And when anything is said to people that make these errors, they react as though YOU have a problem for being so uptight. Like understanding the language, having an education and using it and not being so lazy as to use poor grammar and words improperly is a flaw of character. Yikes.

Okay, I have vented now. I feel better. I think I'll take a brake now. It's all you'res. Than I'll go get a beer!

LOL, I didn't see it at first, but that helped.

I think this works slightly better and is more correctly punctuated, though.

John, while Jim had had "had," had had "had had;" "had had" had had a better affect on the teacher.

Dan, you're a man after my own heart.

It depends on what you want the meaning to be, but here's my attempt:

John, while Jim had, had had, had had, had had, had had, had had, a better affect on the teacher.

I think I came up with the same solution as Legion. Who's E. E. Cummings?

Wouldn't it be "effect" and not "affect?"

I think it works, although I could be had, had.

Roughly:

On a test, Jim had answered "had."

John had answered "had had," which was the answer the teacher liked better.
