No problem, I rarely watch the news, and if I do it only takes about 5 minutes before I want to barf and I change the channel.
I saw a bluld about the kid and deporting and figured we would have the national guard down here again breaking down doors to get the kid and send him back to Cuba. The wet foot Dry foot only applies to Cubans right? Hatians get booted regardless.

We need lawn mowers. The willing and able type.
New highs set Friday and Saturday, the city announced that they are now deporting any Rams fans that are from California. Need more buses.

Funny... they follow the rules, wonder why our illegals from down South cannot do the same thing?

Euros have an easier time getting temp visas. Getting perm visas is much more difficult.
I know several that came here that way legally but stay beyond the Visa expiration so they are now illegal.

I'll make the wild guess that Europeans living here, illegally or not, carry car insurance, don't go the ER for routine health care and probably aren't congregating in the 7-11 parking lot looking for work. When I was rear ended a month ago, a 20 yr. old German au pair hit me from behind and pushed me into an Hispanic guy who barely spoke English and whose car probably wasn't worth $500 before I hit him. Thank God, the German girl had full coverage and State Farm is taking care of everything. Had she and the guy in front of me switched places, I'd probably be in huge trouble.

I'd guess that's true but they are also taking skilled good paying jobs that legal citizens want and will perform.

Yup, my Chinese fiancee (legally here) has a job that might go to an American if our schools turned out people with the same qualifications as her school did.

latino immigrants
I am an European Immigrant - legal
![]() When I go to Downtown LA, I see ZERO latino homeless and tons of "American" homeless. Latinos generally work hard and are economically successful - latest in the second generation. And my experience is that they are nice and generous people. What are you afraid of? The US economy heavyly relys on illegal immigrants (agriculture, gastronomy). Decisionmakers should accknowledge this and facilitate immigration.

My buddies South Korean wife is skilled like that, banker. She is doing the mommy thing. They went to S Korea to do the test tube baby gig, saved many thousands of dollars, including the plane tickets. The delay on her paperwork cost gubmint a good chunk of change on her income taxes during that time period.

First, "working hard" is not nearly as important as "working smart". Having a decent work ethic is one thing - to define yourself and your entire culture by nothing more than a willingness to do backbreaking manual labor is another, and frankly condemns you to a life of insignificance and poverty. Those types of jobs are the ones that will be done by machinery and/or robots in the years to come. If that's all you've got, you're in BIG trouble and the last thing we need is millions more people with no skills demanding to be fed from the government teat - which is right where this is going in a generation or two. . . We absolutely don't NEED unskilled manual laborers - we need SKILLED individuals that can contribute to the work force more than simply being a warm body with two hands. The fact that the "economy relies heavily on illegal immigration" is the PROBLEM. By your logic, a lot of people commit murders too, so why don't we just legalize it? A lot of people rely on stolen goods too, so let's just look the other way, right? C'mon. If you want to come to this country, get in line, tell us WHY you think you ought to come here, what skills you bring to the table and go through the motions. If/when you're admitted LEGALLY, I'll be the first to welcome you. If you're going to jump a river with your seven kids and hide in some slum neighborhood for years never attempting to integrate or learn the culture/language, I'll be the first to drag you out by your hair and toss you back across said river. Legal immigrants are welcome, illegal aliens are not. That goes for their "anchor babies" too - I say toss them out with their parents - fruit of the poison tree. The last thing we need right now is more people - especially in southern California.

Let them come to this country LEGALLY as you have, I have and others have done, then become a productive member of society. Jumping the fence and working illegally is NOT the way to do things.

I welcome immigration, legally. Illegal immigrants are doomed to a life of poverty in the shadows. Legal immigrants have the same opportunities as any other American.
