After hearing so many good things about it, I 'broke' down and bought this. Exact same thing as the $700 Snap-On FJ300 but at less than 1/3rd the price. Absolutely no complaints at all. And you'll really have to search to find anything negative about this jack.

this is the best jack on the planet..well, i imagine NASA has a better one.

anyways, we abuse my buddies. it isnt light. putting it into a truck is a two man job.

if i had to complain:
the front wheels. there is a rubber "o-ring" that is supposed to cushion the rolling of the wheels on a hard garage floor. they alway come off at the worst time..like when someone yells.."go foward now!" trying to get a 911 motor lined up.

and that handle to lower the jack. hahha..it is the acutal handle!! the black part. you twist it to lower the jack. personally, i think the part you grab ALL THE TIME shouldnt be the operational part to lower the jack. it is also the part most susceptible to bumping. good friends..no GREAT friends with love and respect for each other will yell at you if you happen to lower a 911 motor at the wrong time. it is also a friggen hair trigger on my buddies. they wont let me lower anymore. i have two speeds..slow and stop.

having said that, i would still want one.

here is my jack. despite the stars and stripes naming of the company, the jack is made in China.

i was pissed when i got it. but i have had it 11 years or so and it is pretty great. it was great with my 911. i could use about 2" higher with my tacoma.

Multiple promises that it had been fixed and the refund would show on my card the next morning, and it never happened. I tracked down the right executive via LinkedIn and figured out her email address. We had 62 mutual connections. Man, that got things fixed instantly. I was amazed how fast that got a phone call with an apology and then another 30 min. later asking me to check my card to confirm it had been fixed.
Part of this saga was that I was promised two, $75 gift cards for my jack and air compressor both failing at 13 months by the first customer service rep that I talked to. They never showed up, and each subsequent customer service rep that I spoke with either told me that they were on the way or that there was no record of them ever being promised or issued. I kept up the phone calls for about 2 years. What I took from this experience was that about half of their customer service reps would lie to you to get you off the phone.

Yes they will. I have experienced this with Northern Tool.

The ball was missing in the big ball valve on one of those rolling oil catch tanks with adjustable neck. Ball seals the neck off from the tank so you can use air pressure to evacuate old oil from the bottom tank. China. Engagement handle, no ball. They ran out, I guess?

Several phone calls with promises to get back to me. Nothing. I figured a work around but no customer service for a defective product.

With respect to old functioning jacks. Bought this from my storage wars shop mates. It is the heaviest 1 1/2 ton I have ever used. Works fine. Built pre-1972 as Simpsons-Sears Canada changed name/logo to Sears in 1972.

A jack is not something I would spend a lot on. I jack up, throw in stands and lower. Leave the jack as a safety along with other things. I think some use jacks as supports, I don't.

I would pay more for a low profile jack. Currently I drive onto blocks and then jack. Lowering looks good but sucks for real life usage.

My 20 yo 2 ton craftsman died about a year ago. Replaced it with a Harbor Freight 2 ton Aluminum racing. Used the new on once so far. It worked.

Never. I have reached into wheel well with jack only on rare occasion with no stand option. Never under.

I have had a jack seal fail on one hydraulic jack while gathering stands. How many chances do you get if under the car?

Side note. I won't even start a car with my garage door closed. I did hear recently that you can last about two hours with a new car, though. With my luck, I would stroke out walking to the door lift push button.

The success of all hydraulic jacks is due to a $.10 O-ring.

The longevity of all hydraulic jack users correlates to their use of jack stands.

Same here but i got the steel one. Sure has come in handy and worked flawlessly every time i needed it.
IIRC I paid $75

A few years ago a took my jack which needed new seals to a local repair shop and he explained to me the real culprit was cheap polishing of the hydraulic cylinder which leads to the cheap seals wearing out. He said he can replace the seals for about the cost of a new cheap jack and the sub-par cylinder polishing job will just make my new seals wear out just as before.

He suggested I take my jack to a scrap metal buyer and go buy another cheap jack or find a really old jack at a yard sale and re-seal it.

Jim
I have that one as well, mine must be over thirty years old, and I jack my truck with it. I also have a three ton NAPA low profile jack. HF has a decent low profile that will jack to 24 inches, and the Pelican jack is the real deal.

Both of my jacks are as heavy as sin.

Speaking of Craftsman. I went to Sears today.

Very sad.

Not just Craftsman. Sears in general.

My local Sears doesn't exist anymore. Went under sometime after the Holidays. I tried stopping by to purchase a hose kit for a new dishwasher in November, actually found the part, and left after I found the disaster that stood as checkout. I can see why it no longer exists; the customer-service was atrocious. Somewhat sad, as it has been (was) there for as long as I can remember (4 decades).

I purchased a Hein Werner jack a couple years ago. $200. It's a pleasure every time I use it. It probably lifts just like the two cheapo ones I've had before it, but it lowers nicer, rolls nicer, and does everything nicer than my AutoZone and Craftsman jacks I've had in the past. The matching jack stands are also sturdier than anything I've seen in any FLAPS or Sears.

After the failure of my previous jack, I went looking for a new one. The finalists were the one Danish-made sold on Pelican, the Spanish-made one from Griots, Milwaukee Hydraulic, & Hein Werner. The last two are the only ones I found to be made in America. Even mighty Snap-On is Made in China. Plus the Milwaukee and Hein Werner were a lot cheaper than the Pelican and Griots ones.

This jack has been known to go on sale for 139$. It is an incredible deal at that price.
