On the way home tonight, I met a Prius.
On the way home tonight, going through a lit tunnel and making an awful loud racket, I came upon a Prius. Inside was a youngish man and woman, late 20's maybe.
Man is driving, and looks over at me. You could see the look of yearning on his face. He mutters somthing, I can see his mouth move, but I can hear him. Alla the sudden, the girl starts whacking him on the head! ![]() I was obvious. The choice of a Prius was hers, not his. ![]()

I see it all the time. Guys driving PT Cruisers, minivans and mini-SUV's...wife in the passenger seat, baby-seat(s) in the back. They look over at you/your car and have that stare...
Oh well...no-one forced you to get married, sucker. |

Maybe they're wishing they'd taken the Ferrari that day?

Marriage doesn't have to be like that. We've got two 911s, a Mustang convertible, and for the serious family hauling duties, a 530i sport sedan.

You should have seen the look of horror in the faces of parents when my daughter used to climb into her Porsche issue car seat (Britax) that was strapped in the back of my 930!!!!! My wife might not be a "car person", but she has clearly said she will NEVER own a mini-van! But as with anything else in life, a family has to do what a family has to do, so I understand how some folks end up in vehicles they don't "love".

Oh, I just remembered. I pulled up next to a Prius the other day on the beltline. I was driving the Targa. Pulled up alongside his open window, dropped it into 3rd, and blasted off. Targa's been running nice and rich. Dropped plenty of unburnt mixture on him.

I agree. Happily married for 10 years here. I've got the 911, a 944 that is probably getting a Callaway turbo conversion done to it, a Mercedes convertable and a motorcycle. Wife is actually okay with it all. She actually kinda' liked the 951 before it blew up too.
I think the key to holding onto your masculinity is not avoiding marriage, it's avoiding having kids. . . or more specifically, being OWNED by one's kids. I never understood why so many guys hang up their testicles after they've got children. Why? I don't get it.

My Wife was on the internet looking at 4WD/AWD cars for winter. She told me "I found my next car!". I went to look and it was an FJ40 LandCruiser w/ Chevy 350 conversion.
My Wife, I think I'll keep her....

Where the hell is Donny Weymer? He needs to weigh in on this thread. Y'all should see the monstrosity he drives. Excursion with 7.3L PSD, 35" tires, 6" lift, twin 4" straight pipes (cats? what are cats?). The thing is amazing.
So I live in a townhouse (with a garage). I share a driveway with my next door neighbors. We get along great, but they are very liberal & green. Politically and environmentally we mesh well, because we just cancel each other out. They drive his and hers Civics - they haven't yet gone for a pair of Prii (what the !$#@% is the plural of Prius???!?!!?!111!!!). So anyway, the neighbor and I are out enjoying a cold beer in the driveway and his girlfriend isn't home; her parking spot is open. I'm expecting Donny to arrive soon for a male bonding session. Off in the distance, I hear a familiar clattering of injectors and think to myself "AHH, Ford PSD, excellent!". Now I didn't know at this point that Donny had this Excursion, the only other time I saw him down in Florida he was driving a BMW. So the PSD noise gets louder and louder and around the corner comes this oil-burning terror with headlights 8 feet off the ground. It looks like a subway car had sex with Bigfoot (the monster truck, not the critter). It is Donny. He comes flying up my driveway at about 20 mph, glides right into the neighbor's girlfriend's parking space, and abruptly stops before knocking the guy's house down. He revs the PSD and grins. At this point I'm choking back tears of laughter. My neighbor is standing there slack-jawed in horror. I don't think he'd have been any more horrified if Dick Cheney himself had pulled in driving a top-fuel dragster. I'm eyeing his hand carefully, afraid he's going to lose his grip on his beer (that would be alcohol abuse, which I will not tolerate on my property). I swear it was the kodak moment from hell.

This thread cracks me up. I have the 964(5), two motorcycles, a big ol Tahoe and the Mustang. My wife drives a V-8 Vovlco XCC90. While it pretty much is a jacked up station wagon, the 315 hp V-8 makes up for it, and i don't mind driving every couple of months. On the weekends we typically take the Tahoe, but I have been know to put both car seats in the 911 and drive it.
On a side note, when I hade my 86 911 vert, I would strap my daughter into the front seat. Can you belive I actually had some mini van driving mom tell me that my daughter shouldn't be there because of the air bag. It made me laugh, and I just told her there wasn't an air bag, Bill |

![]() I don't put too much stock into what people drive, I've met a lot of sissies with nice cars. We may have an SUV for a family car, but it has a 320 HP V8, and is faster than either of my BMWs or 911 ever were. ![]()

I actually LIKE my wifes PT. It's fun to drive and reminds me of the old VW beetle.
