I'm an electrician, at work we are dealing with asbestos all the time.
There is bad asbestos and even worse asbestos. Even undisturbed asbestos releases fibres into the air under normal conditions. I am not joking. I wouldnt saw it, drill it or pick it off. Removal is for specialists. We have found that rodents love chewing the stuff. So even asbestos that was supposed to be safe because it hasnt been touched was actually exposed and airborne from places we couldn't see

I lucked out...the original owner of our home was an electrician...everything "code"...actually beyond code according to the inspection report.
