El Paso Pelicans

Flying out that way tomorrow and will spending the week down in Juarez. Would love to meet up with any locals to knock down a few cold ones, share some good food, some p-car stories, or anything else that Pelicans do when they get together.

I'll be spending Sunday night at the El Paso Radisson, and then Monday will be crossing the border and staying at the Radisson in Juarez thru Thursday. Friday night will be back north of the border at the Wyndham El Paso, to fly out Saturday.

Drop a post here, or PM me if anyone is interested.

Randy

Be very careful over on the South side. Used to be lots of drug and gang wars over there.

Lived there for two years and liked El Paso.

I'm in Las Cruces (but not this month). Check out the Arroyo Seco website:

http://www.arroyosecoraceway.com/scracing.html

They have some PCA events and track days coming up if you need a Porsche fix. About 1.5 hrs. from El Paso.

+1 about Juarez. It is the "wild west" of drug dealing/smuggling right now.

Thanks for the advice Joe, and Danny!
My company is setting up a call center there in Juarez so I'll be there just to sorta watch over the computer network and telephone system. From what I've been told, there will be a couple of locals assigned as "escorts" to keep us out of the problem areas.

In a city nicknamed "City of Death", I'm not so sure there would be any areas that aren't problem areas!

I build call centers (cabling/networks/phones), but I wouldn't go to Juarez for work. There are quite a few companies building call centers here in Las Cruces, thanks to the large bi-lingual labor pool. AmEx just opened a customer service center, I believe. Tell your company to go north!

If I had MY way, they wouldn't have closed down the call center here in Atlanta just to open this one up. There may be some cost savings to moving things off-shore, but somehow, I believe the Americans that had to find new jobs aren't real pleased about it!

Well...perhaps one of the company execs will take a trip to Juarez and end up taking a wrong turn. That experience might convince them to bring the jobs back.

Check out Columbus/Palomas border crossing to the west if you want to do sightseeing/shopping without having to look over your shoulder...there are some excellent restaurants on the Mexican side.

Vaya con Dios
