Now there's an honest golfer ![]() I just went out - cleared away a foot and a half of snow - took out my putter (just to see how far I could hit it ) - and wow ! must be the cold weather or all the clothing I packed on - 275 yards easy - tapped it in with a 2 iron.

Par 5, 522 yards...no dogleg and no elevated tee and uses a sand wedge on second shot. At the Accenture last week on the last hole that Tiger used a driver he hit it 319 yards. If Matt hit it 40 yards further than Tiger, that would be a 359 yard drive...and embarrass the hell out of Tiger. ![]() It would still leave Matt with 163 to the pin. Now, unless Matt plans on hitting that sand wedge in the belly every time...that is a very strange club to be using for a 163 yard approach shot. Hmmmm............................ |

I'm sure I've hit my sand wedge 160 before.
Skulled it right over the green...

That's nuthin'. I always tee off with a driver but I like to shape my shots - sometimes like a wedge, sometimes like a one iron, sometimes like a firmly struck putt, and everything in-between.

If we have this tourney maybe we could have one group for you good players and another group of us sucky players.... we could play for high score ![]() I tried really really hard to learn golf because my dad loves the game and I figured it would be a good bonding thing for us to do together now that I am an adult and I love being outdoors. But alas after lessons, trips to the range, and a few rounds with friends... I still suck. I could hit close to par on a few holes... but those par times two holes were bringing me down.

Not to hijack the thread...
But I saw King Kenny at Laguna Seca back in the day! And I lived only twenty minutes from Ascot raceway! Neener neener! Now back to discussing wasting a perfectly good afternoon chasing a little ball around a park. ![]() J/K! All this talk of high tech clubs reminds me of when I played tennis... I had the latest whoopeedoo carbon fiber racket... and then I saw some kid burning up the court with a old broken wood racket... made me think.
