Full Auto
Yep, I've been looking into buying one.
Thinking about: B.A.R. - $26,000 - supposedly New Old Stock, unfired Thompson - $12,500 Uzi - $8000 - 9mm but includes 45ACP and 22LR conversion kits Thoughts? I like the idea that I can use them, so I'd prefer a used B.A.R. over the obviously collectible one. |
Get the BAR if you can get your hands on one.
Thompsons are pieces of junk, IMO. |
Congrats. This is a longterm goal of mine. I'd like an AK-47 or something that's easy to get cheap, surplus Chinese ammo for.
|
You could get some nice Porsches for those prices. :D
|
Shortly after 9/11 I was at a local gun store and range. They were almost out of inventory for the run on guns. One guy at the range had a full auto Tommy gun and a mountain of brass under it. I asked the clerk if he had bought the ammo at the store and he said, "Yeah, he's up to about $1500 so far today." Yeah, you can buy Porsches for class III prices. But Porsches are far cheaper to run.
|
If I could afford a BAR I'd get one tomorrow. CA or no CA. I'd figure out a way. If you're so fortunate, go for it! I can't imagine those dropping in value anytime soon!
|
I'm not the paranoid type in the least but owning class III goodness has to put me on some lists I don't want to be on.
I would much sooner black market something like that. |
I'm already on the list, I have a CHL.
|
When I obtained my FFL 22 years ago I could have had a class III piggy-backed to my class (I forget what mine is, VII maybe). Still not interested but would spring for a few rounds to watch you shoot yours.
Has anyone been to any of the West Point, KY shoots? Jim |
full auto.........hmmmmm..........my thoughts..........
1) ungodly investment! once they are gone they are gone! adios! no mas! 2) PITA to clear paperwork and this aint gonna be plug and play after you pay, figure quite some time before paperwork gets through all jurisdictions. 3) some ranges do not allow them. 4) plan on importing 55 gallon drums in of ammo, or start reloading mass quanities and stock heavily on brass 5) laws are very clear about what rights you give up. example: nearest bank to yer house gets robbed. dumb-A$$ teller girl says " HE HAD A BLACK MACHINE GUN!". FBI agent that responds to bank, pulls out laptop, clicks 50 mile radius, and guess whose name comes up?????? now agents start from A and go to Z, confirming that each and every owner has his full auto in possession. this could be 2am in the morning while your in the sack w/the old lady. and they are coming thru the door NO MATTER WHAT! this might not be fun, depending on your attitude. 6) do you have a safe? A VERY GOOD SAFE. not some chezzeball sheet metal one. is it fireproof? can you safely store ammo? cuz yer gonna have alot! primers powder etc. 7) whatever caliber you go with, call dillon and see whats the number of rounds produced per hour on their machines. good indicator of how much time you will spend on it if you shoot it alot. 8) honestly everyone of my friends that own one it was a novelty. and then the fun wore off. 9) great investment and also a PITA to sell once you burn out on it. meaning finding legal new owner w/that kind of bucks. it will take time, no instant turnover, unless gun store wants it. 10) BAR is wayyyyyyyyyyy cool, can you get new barrels? 11) my favorite.........HK 51 SBR..............fire breathing MONSTER in .308! |
HK MP5 !!!SmileWavy

A BAR would be cool to have. I have patient who has some serious iron, Barrett .50, Tommy gun, some really cool vintage stuff, he is craving a BAR, or so he said. He just went to some shoot in Nevada, but they would not let them shoot pumpkins full of black powder and gasoline with tracers, something about fire risk. |
Bar is too big to use if need be and the ammo prices would be enormous I believe they're 30-06. Plus I think it would be hard to find hi cap mags for that thing. HK MP5 great all around gun, very reliable and in 9mm. Feds, Seals you name it use them....
|
You can also find HK G3's in .308, or even a British Sten would be a fun little gun.
|
I'm picking up one of these (Serbu Super Shorty)...http://hometown.aol.com/ipspics2/supershorty.jpg
It is considered an "AOW", so no ClassIII required. And, I can carry on my CCW! |
I didn't think any barrel length under 18" was legal.
|
Nice home defense gun, a M16 might be a good choice too red beard.... lots of various goodies to buy for that, replacement barrels, ammo, accesories etc....

(home of the cave). can be belt fed, mag fed your choice. also MP-5's, G-3's and all the flavors! alot of guys at ben avery range are converting odd ball u.s. and foreign machine gun calibers over to .308 because belt feeding them cheaper easier. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1194578397.jpg note prices..........thems waz da good 'ol days! |

Allowable rifle barrell length is 16", perhaps to grandfather in those few old Winchester (and others)carbines that were that length. I heard that today from the agent that conducted my compliance check. Shotguns are still 18". Jim |

As Legion is from IL I didn't feel he was ready to confront NFA type firearms so I felt he was referring to the more common side of the picture. That was my point of refrence. Nice pic btw, a buddy showed up at the shop with a cut BREN the other day, what a hunk. Jim |
Silencers are also AOW under the NFA, $5 transfer tax. Lots of companies make them.

Is it possible to own an MP-5 legally? I thought class III only allowed guns made or imported by 1986.
|
Yes, if you are a FFL with a Class III license.
Maybe all of this will change soon, but I'm not counting on it. |

Wait! Stop the presses...AOW's are allowed in IL: http://www.mp5.net/info/sbsconr.htm |

you should nickname that thang "THE VAPORIZER"! same rule applies here in az re: CCW. if you have CCW and you can hide it...........its allowed. knives class III,s etc. scottsdale gun club has some very high end class III's always for sale also. RDTS.com here in cave creek is the HK guru for anythang you want HK. note the bottom left of flemings pic. thats a "K" version (kurz) for short, HK .308 in full auto. 30 rd clips crammed into a nice lil package of overwhelming firepower. you probably would have to deal with "overpenetration" issues in certain areas. my pistol guru friend nelson ford bought a real honest to goodness full auto M-14. saw video of him leaning into that monster and going for a ride. hell of alot of fun. but once again alot of bucks to shoot. but if the SH!! ever goes down...............im going to his house and he will protect me from the BOOGERMAN! while i snipe away with my puny semi-auto .308's. he also has a .50 browning full auto on a jeep, a water cooled .30 caliber class III. hes a gun shop owner therfore HE CAN! my honest opinion............get a class III in either 9mm or .308, gonna be the cheapest bang fer buck. belt fed if ya really want lasting grins! thats whats cool about HK 21. belt feed it for ungodly firepower and then go back to mag fed and go slow with ammo. remember belt feds need linking system or you will be there forever loading rounds and in a matter of seconds all your efforts will be downrange FAST! |
i can't have any guns...i live in nj where they are illegal :(
