Saab....born from jets!!!

I am simply astounded that GM has allowed this rubbish to go on as long as it has. This has got to be one of the worst, most ineffective advertising campaigns in the modern world.

Why doesn't Saab just get down to buisness?

"Are you a white male between the ages of 28 and 45 living within 15 miles of a University? Are you DESPERATE to prove your white liberal credentials? Then boy oh boy do we have the car for you! Yesterdays technology, at tomorrows prices!!! And if you think Birkenstocks are 'sleek' and 'sexy', the you will LOVE our styling."

Wurst ads EVAR.

Drove a Saab years ago. Owned it for less than a year. Very advanced in some areas and very strange in others. Bought a 914 and ditched the Saab. Very happy since...

Now, now. Enough already, gentlemen.

Björn Waldegård won more rallies in a SAAB than with any other makes.

That said, being Swedish, although the SAAB car manufacturing originates in the fighter jet industry, the last two decades of the car make has been as close to a tractor as it is possible. The SAAB 93-96 V4 and the original SAAB turbo were all cool cars and fun to drive. The rest is history, boring history.

used to drive an early 9-3 se turbo cab
very nice all weather convertible
it would move fast on highways

power wise it was sort of like my current 944S, but with a bit more low-end
handling unfortunately was not, chassis wasn't as good, suspension was softer from the factory (we had a 93 coupe in the family as well) but this one was lowered by the PO, and it was like a skid plate, bone hard, it would get upset by a pebble on the road

being FWD, it was torque steering like a motha, overtaking to the left didn't require turning your steering wheel to the left, just mash the medal, it would move to the left all by it's own
i wonder how that works in the UK , where one should overtake to the left, but the car wants to go left...

the interior was great though, especially at night you could imagine some fighterplane heritage because of the wrapping dashboard, especially a cab feels very snug, good seats too, and i liked the black out button, where you push a button and the whole dash goes dark except for the speedo and any relevant warning lights that will come up when they should...
compared to the 944/2, it might look better from the outside, but sitting inside, it was just cosier

Back in the early 90's my wife wanted one. We were driving 4 wheel steering honda accords at the time. The Saab drove like a truck. No sale.

"SAAB .... reduced to a lame marketing ploy by clueless GM beancounters"

.... works better for me. Truth in advertising eh?

LOL, that sums it up in a dozen words or less.

It's a division of GM selling rebadged GM and Subaru cars that has been losing money for quite some time, and probably will eventually go the way of Oldmobile (R.I.P.).

Gotta love GM though. Check out the ad, what's wrong with this picture (LOL!)

I loved the Saab 99 and 900 turbos. They were unique, sorta fast, turbo, 5 door, black, what's not to like

I had a 97 900 SE and the car was fantastic for what it was. It was a unique and interesting car to drive. That being said, GM has really gone a little too far in the advertising. Buying used, you can get a heck of a good deal but in CA, the cars do not hold their value.

My wife is still looking for a small station wagon and we went to look at the 9-3 Combi Sport Wagon, I thought it looked like a pretty good car. We also looked at the Volvo 50 series wagon, But, we are still waiting for the Jetta Diesel wagon to come out.
