Alternate fuel scam
Alternate fuels are the latest eco friendly scam. I just did a research project on the economics of alternate fuels. The results were totally amazing and downright jarring. There is NO alternate fuel that makes economic sense, NONE! Why are the auto companies and others advertising their amazing alternate fuel exploits? Just PR, nothing more.
Get this. economic analysis of alternate fuels has not been done, at least public ally to date!!! MIT has just put together a project to analyze the economics of alternate fuels, just now, after billions have been spent towards something that will never pan out!!! One of the preliminary conclusions is that even if a car, with equal performance, and everything else, and even triple the fuel economy of todays vehicles is made, it wil NEVER penetrate the market at over 50%. Even the most optimistic projections show that by 2035 over 75% of the cars on the road will be powered by gas or diesel. Another amazing finding is that the policies of congress, designed to reduce the dependence on foreign fuel, have actually caused our dependence to increase from 5% in 1990 to over 12% today!!! Want to give our legislators even more say? I say woo boy, what have you done for me so far. These are FACTS. Just do a search, limited to the last year on the subject. What you will find is not only disturbing, but downright depressing. Its a con game and we are being conned. It seems that physics hasn't changed since the 70's, physics and mother nature is a b1tch! Coincidentally, I heard the same being debated on the radio today. Stunning. The mix of basic science and politics often seems to result in more politics than science.

If you would post some details of your data and findings, that would be more helpful than posting a rant with lots of exclamation marks.

The real profit is in the by-products from the processing of oil into gasoline.
Most comparisions of bio-fuels I've seen neglect the by-product or co-products aspect of bio-fuels. Apples to apples in any conversation would be best.

Coconut oil?!?! Jeez- why didn't the professor think of this? They could have been back from Gilligan's crummy island in no time at all, AND they would have done it without giving money to those darn Arabs and their OPECs and all!
