Obama has a shot. A lot of the people who would not vote for him because of race would vote red anyways, so no consequence. He could cause a massive Dem and lefty turn-out that is absolutely unbeatable for any Republican candidate. And the GOP is not exactly running Ronald Reagan this year.
The good news is that Rudy is getting thrown under the bus. He's as worthless as the tits on a bull. "President of 9/11"...

Again, you're not looking at the whole picture. There are plenty of racist Democrats, blee dat. Those are lost votes.

... good point, LD. Tho' you should also consider all of the black racists who will support him, for being a well spoken black man. Sure, there is that whole Q of 'is he black enough?' ...But consider, he has Oprah driving his "message" (wink wink) hard to the hoop.
tabs, yeah, Hill can't even feign concern for those she wants power over. She's done. The Lib's here know it....and their absents of defence DOES make your point. --of course Hill will keep on squawking .. she has others money to ensure that.

John and len - great answers, thanks a lot! It is truly a peculiar system to a for'ner.
I previously somewhat questioned the democratic value of your system. I now believe it was from ignorance (still is of course) and I begin to see that it is actually very democratic in a grossly complicated way.

Livi, I think the Loya Jirga system in Afghanistan is probably more truly democratic per se than our system. But we're a much larger country with far more big cities or population centers. The electoral college, as badly as it failed in 2000 and one or two other times, was a pretty ingenius idea. If I were POTUS, I'd probably tone down the rhetoric about spreading democracy or about how great our system is. Our system has probably produced the longest period of peaceful power transfers between greatly differing leaders in the world. But it only works here and should not be imposed anywhere else. Plenty of other countries, even far less democratic, seem to do just fine with their systems. And besides, when you see how cynical and screwed up our political culture here on the ground in the U.S., I don't think it's so great.

It's kind of funny seeing Oprah split between the "woman's club" and the "black club" as far as who she'll side with.
Dollars to donuts if Hillary gets the nod she'll completely claim that she always supported her because she's the "woman's candidate", blah, blah, blah. The whole thing is bogus anyway.

More women in Iowa voted for Barack than Hillary.
