In the immediate aftermath of World War II, France worked to rebuild its military. Much progress had been made in aviation during the war years, and this was now an area of special focus. The French Navy (Marine Nationale) expressed an interest in a new aircraft that could serve in fighter, interceptor, and ground attack roles. Although other navies were beginning the transition to jet aircraft, the French Navy requested this new aircraft to be piston-powered..................

Lacking the time to design and test a completely new engine, Arsenal turned to the German Junkers Jumo 213A as a starting point................

Proposals were submitted to convert the aircraft to jet-power as the SO.8010, but no further action was taken. Apparently, both SO.8000 aircraft were scrapped after the program was terminated.

I've lived near O'Hare my entire life and work in Airfreight. I've never seen an AA 747. Not saying they don't exist, I've just never seen one.

There have been a number of them.

AA operated 747-100 planes from 1970-1984/85. They also operated some 747SP planes from 1986-1994. One of the AA owned 747s, N905NA, became a Space Shuttle Carrier.

In early 1970 before AA took delivery of its own Boeing 747, the company leased two Pan Am 747-121s. These aircraft were painted in full AA livery, and were operated until early 1971, then returned to Pan Am after AA received its own new 747-123s. Most Boeing 747–100 wide body aircraft were retired from passenger service in the late 1970s and served as freighters until their final retirement in 1985.

I started fitting skirting around the back of my Moho to keep the plumbing and waste tanks from freezing. Don't think me a whimp cause I didn't have to shovel snow to get into place.
