This 1946 seaplane flew over me today. I believe it is nearly as large as the Spruce Goose. Sorry for the poor quality - they were taken through the windshield and the sunroof while driving down the freeway. It has been in use fighting local fires:

To give you an idea of scale, that little spec is a general aviation sized aircraft

Surprisingly, the tires didn't smoke as far down the strip as expected. Huge parachute to stop it.

Actually, when Top Gas Dragster was still a viable class, many teams ran twin engine cars. One of my favorites was The Odd Couple, which ran a small block Chevy in front of a Hemi. I couldn't find a picture of it set up like that, but here is a later version with two Hemis:

Another famous Top Gas twin (props to whoever can name it):

The 'Fedra' came to grief at Gibraltar and when the rescue helicopters engine ingested water and had to put down on the clifftop, the crane (you can see alongside)
rescued the remaining crew with a cage

With some brilliant images BTW)

NO GIRLS ALLOWED

Is it still a tree house if it’s not technically in a tree? I think I’ll allow it.

Re: Martin Mars

Hey David

I, like many others on Vancouver Island (Sproat Lake), have seen them when parked. They truly are gargantuan aircraft & iconic pieces of aviation history. The remarkable thing is they are still doing great work for the water bomber fleet here in B.C. & in other forest fire zones. Thanks for posting those in-flight photos.

Cheers
JB

Yesterday, an old BMW on I-94 in Detroit. The car is older than the driver.
