Dr. Hunter S. may have liked the Shadow, but this here' a two-wheeled racing machine:

Then there is "The World's Fastest Indian". Of which Burt Monro's record in the S-AF 1000cc class still stands.

As of 2017, go to page 61:

Burt Monro and his streamlined Indian Scout.

SUCH a great movie!

I saw his original Indian on temporary display at the NHRA museum at the Los Angeles Fairplex. One side was as shown above and the other side had all fiberglass (?) removed. It gave a good view of Monro’s DIY handiwork, which was very cool. It also gave me new respect for the speeds he traveled on that machine!

This was from the Long Beach motorcycle show a while back.

what was more aerodynamic, the 1949 Beetle, or the VW Microbus?
Just A Car Guy: aerodynamics

Quote:
Though the early prototypes had terrible aerodynamics, with wind tunnel testing that resulted in body changes like the split “vee” windshield, the production Type 2 had a cd of 0.44, better than the Beetle’s 0.48

The Perfect Airplane Wing
Is it thick or thin, elliptical or squared, straight or cranked? Yes.

One guy whose nickname was Speed had a Norton Comando and he was pretty much number 2 when Phil bought his Vincent.
Then someone showed up with a Honda 305 Scrambler and the whole social order went to hell.

Remarkable, but let's not forget it's a drag coefficient, so while the Beetle had a higher Cd, it's total drag will be considerably lower due to it's smaller frontal area.

Correct, and that nine inches of extra van height combined with other cross sectional area differences really adds up in a CdA verses Cd comparison.
