Some numbers on this 225 Mriya
I saw this incredible aircraft at the Abbotsford Airshow back in the mid-nineties - if memory serves. Supposedly the name 'Myria' translates into 'Dream'. I believe it (originally) was one of two 'purpose built' aircraft to haul around the Buran, the Russian equivalent to the space shuttle & also some of their big booster rockets. It is simply a massive machine & left one wondering about the upper limit of aircraft size, casting aside issues of suitable landing areas & other practicalities.

Went to look at a few Iltis (Ilti?) today. I have a *real* bad crush on them.
This one is calling to me, and I can pick it up for under 2k. It needs some brake lines, bodywork, and the shifter is broken (easy fix, but he doesn't know it). Maybe $500 of work, tops. They are a bit small, not unlike my old Samurai but infinitely better vehicles with independant suspension and locking rear diff (front can be modified to lock too). A bolt-in diesel swap for a vw 1.6 or 1.9 diesel. Very tempting, although I'm pretty sure I'd have to build a cab for it and make it a little pickup bed. ![]() ![]()

I think he may have water in the carburetor.
