My '82 - Never really liked it that much. Footpegs too far forward, steered slow, high frequency vibes and peaky power for a 1000. But it looked gorgeous...

Wow, what a deal.. most of these are hard to come by now, but they were working cars and I doubt most people thought they would ever be collectible.

They're collectible!?

I drove that one for a couple years as my 4th car winter beater, then sold to a younger friend who smashed it on purpose. I'm sure the drivetrain is still around in some other car. Wagons are meant to haul things, but that one hauled a$$.

Very nice! The US got the 1000cc bikes for racing homologation, Canada got the 1100cc versions.

I know about the heavy steering, the 19" front wheel is mostly responsible for that. It's a fun toy for occasional rides though. After riding either of my "modern" sportbikes, the Katana feels like a special occasion! It's like an old 911 that way.

Apparently there's a following, not to the same degree as other classic cars of course. If you held on to yours, you could have sold it to one of the guys at Station Wagon Forums for several times what you paid, they get pretty excited about those old wagons...

Staged photo for an ad campaign in the ... 70's iirc. Maybe 80s.
I remember seeing the ad in magazines of the day.
