Spoke to these folks this morning. Shipped this over from Germany for a tour of the US. So many interested lookers they sometimes have to flee to get away. Saw it in Valley of Fire outside of LV.

On trans-Atlantic "drags" we used to have to slow to 200 indicated, sometimes slower, to allow the A-10s to stay on the boom during refueling. (KC-135R.) So, with the tanker heavy with fuel and slow for the 'Hogs we'd have to roll the flaps out, sometimes to a flap lever position between the individual flap detents, to keep the tanker steady and allow the A-10 the ability to stay on the boom. Happily the Hog driver had a sense of humor and laughed. I think they were Guard guys.

Buddy was a sqaudron commander for the Battle creek mi guard (172tass), flew oversea a couple of times......I can see them laughing at that
