This is a most unusual car. In 1968 Chrysler brass realized that to stay competitive in NASCAR racing they were going to have to significantly improve the aerodynamics of their racers. At the time the 68-70 Dodge Charger was the best they had but they set about to make it even better.
First, they covered the front A pillar drip rails with a chrome cover that improved the air flow off the sides of the windshield. Next, they changed the grille to make it flush with the hood and front bumper. This created much better aerodynamics off the front of the car. Even the headlights were flush with the grille and it is the only Charger ever to have exposed headlights. Finally, the engineers redesigned the rear window to be incorporated into a smooth flowing design from the rear of the roof down to the trunk lid which itself had to be shortened to accommodate this sleek new rear body.
The 500, as it is known, was only built from August 1968 through November 68. All are 69 model year cars. Total production was a little over 500 as it was necessary to build only 500 examples in order to comply with NASCAR rules. Most cars had the 440 engine as it was cheaper to build than the hemi. There were only 116 of the hemi cars made.
This car is one of the 116 built with the hemi engine. Its was delivered new at John Ryan Dodge in Green Bay, Wisconsin and at one point was owned by Galen Govier who as mopar people know is the guru of all things mopar. The car has its original build sheet and fender tag. It was equipped with the dual quad 425hp/426ci hemi. Though not used in NASCAR racing. It is used the indestructible Torque-Flight automatic transmission which for street racers was faster than the 4 speed. The car was also equipped with the Super-Trac-Pak which included the Dana 60 rear end with 4.10 gear set, power front disc brakes and HD suspension. Through some of the interior, such as the headliner and carpet have been replaced, most of the car is original. Although repainted, it is still B5 blue (Bright Blue Metallic) with blue interior and is just gorgeous.
Documentation includes the original build sheet, fender tag decoding, and a letter from Govier attesting to his ownership. This is not a matching numbers engine but it is the correct block. The casting date of the block is September 30, 1968 and the car was produced November 28, 1968. It is #53 in the Chrysler Registry of only 79 known to exist. It is a significant mopar and very hard to find. The condition is excellent and coupled with the outstanding color combo may be the best out there.

ok, the engine rotates counterclockwise, and the prop is wrong for that rotation. Look at the prop on the engine above the door and compare its leading edge/trailing edge for a counterclockwise rotating engine.

And even with this "fan" the blades are wrong for CCW rotation.

just sayin'

A pusher prop for a CCW engine looks like this:

well, it's blowing the smoke rearward - wouldnt that be what you'd want?

Or are you saying that the engine would overheat?

Either way, no way it could ever be safe to use.

True, the prop/fan is blowing smoke to the rear, but if he is planning on using the prop/fan to move the car, it ain't gonna work very well.

Maybe this will help explain: Notice the pitch of the prop blades and the engine is a CW engine.
