Check this out! It's geektastic!
Evidently there's a documentary in post-production right now about these guys, and Lucas himself tossed some money into it. Can you imagine the scene at Lucas' funeral? JP

I sent the link to some of my coworkers who go to Gencon and do stuff like that.
All of them knew what it was without opening the link. And here I am, a car guy in a department of uber-geeks.

LOL, this reminds me of a story:
about 15 years ago i was given a couple of boxes of some star trek memorabilia and books. Some of it looked kinda cool and collectable. I, being the greedy SOB that I am, decided to take the crap uh I mean treasure to a star trek convention and offload it on some "enthusiasts". Bottom line was, I made over $700 on the stuff and saw hundreds of the geekiest people in search of a life I'd ever seen before. Man oh man they were everywhere, masking tape on the thick rimmed glasses, pocket protectors, slide rules, 40 year olds with braces, you name it. Revenge of the nerds had nothing on these people. One in particular comes to mind, a 300 pound woman dressed like spock that was too much (litterally), especially since the uniform she was wearing was designed for someone weighing 125 pounds. Not a good visual. Rolls and bulges where there ought not to be. Almost had to poke out my mind's eye. |
