Parents: A note about meds for your child.
My daughter was prescribed Cephalexin (antibiotic) for a very nasty cold. The original prescription came as a horrible pink suspension that smelled like puke. Just terrible. My already sick daughter was very upset by having to take the stuff. It was bad news for both of us. And she was going to need it 3 times a day for 10 days!
My wife is a doctor, so she poked around and found out that cephalexin also comes in small capsules. Our daughter is only 4, but she can swallow pills. This was a HUGE improvement in the situation. Long and the sort of it: If your kid needs to take medicine, inquire about the format, because there may be other options. |

I don't have kids, but I have some friends that swear by custom-compounding of medications for fussy kids. (Not usually covered by health insurance.)

Target offers to flavor any liquid medicine in whatever flavors they have ready. My son loves bubblegum.
Where was this stuff when I was a kid?

My kids (especially my son) grew up on Amoxicilin; I think Amox is antibiotic and tasted pretty good.

I love to prescribe the most disgusting, impossible to eat preparation in the book. I am such a sadistic type.
 But yes, it is important to check with the parents what would be the best variety.
