Please help ID this car
We went to London a few weeks ago to bring back our new Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy. Our breeder sent us some picture of our pup's littermate who was adopted by someone in England who also has other Cavis. Their Father is the highest-ranked Cavi in England, "Bubb's Wandris Entertainer". He should be a good show prospect. She sent me these pics of the other pup and his Blenheim "brother" at their home, and they were posing on this car (which is supposed to be one of the few examples of it left. Can anyone name it)?

Renault? maybe around 1914?

From the shape of the hood and grille and the single headlight ...I vote for a Mors.
I think they were chain drive. Can't tell from that angle if your's is or not? |
Looks like a really "fancy" DeDion.
Best, Kurt |
Here's a couple of DeDions from the very early 1900s:

Yup, the Mors has the same hood/cowl style as the speciman car and the DeDion:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1204124466.jpg The above Mors is a 1902. Perhaps a more colorful coach builder 'went to town' on a Mors or DeDion to create the car in question? Just a thought. Best, Kurt |
Thanks for the replies! Yes, it does look like a DeDion with some custom coachwork. I googled DeDion and found some pictures from the RAC that look similar, I've asked our breeder if she will contact the owner to give me some more particulars on the car. Oh, here's a picture of our little fellow (we had so hoped for a tri-color male and got lucky, as she only had 2 pups in this litter, and BOTH were tri-color males)! He flew back in-cabin with us and did not make a sound the entire trip. Peed at Heathrow and O'Hare then again at DFW, but remained dry in his Sherpa bag.

Its American.
1902 or 1903 Westfield. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1204128582.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1204128662.jpg Tim |

Nice work. That's it, of course. :) Best, Kurt |
I continue to be amazed at the skills of this board. Tim, not only did you ID the car, but provided another pic of the very car! They own 7 other cars, I can't wait to find out what else resides in their collection!SmileWavy

Wow, this certainly was an old post. We visited with "Spencer" and his owners 2 years ago when we went over for the Crufts dog show. Here's a pic of their Westfield and a few others in their collection. I'm anxious to see what else "new" they have added when we visit next year.

Don't know what I'd do with a dungeon, however....;) |
They didn't play around with radiators back then, did they? The location and the starter crank leave a little to be desired though.
|
Next time I'll take more detailed pics as they do not do justice to the workmanship of that car.
|
Wait, you went to London to buy a designer puppy from a breeder?
|
I'm guessing there is no problem with wind and the exposed umbrella cover. Bet that bad boy gets up to 20mph downhill.....
