Wow, business must be good!! That's awesome. Remember, most of us live vicariously when it comes to super cars. Your adventures with the 959 have been awesome, and I for one want more. Make sure you do the same for the M1. Oh, and pop in to give us a link to the thread. I haven't visited the BMW site, so I would have missed it.
Unless that car was factory like that, I say pass...it is ugly. Otherwise, it's still ugly, but unique. I remember seeing one of those for sale in the Robb Report in 84 or 85....it was white and owned by Christopher Cross.... |

There is a dealership here that has one on display in it's showroom. I was chatting one day with the parts guy about it and he said it belonged to the owner of the dealership, and that its' been for sale for a few years provided the right offer comes around. It was white with (if I recall correctly) navy leather. The front quarter panel was adorned with m-color stripes (not nearly as garish as the miami viced one you posted earlier). Nice looking car, definitley not concours. Then again, it's the only example I've seen in person so I can't realy compare it to anything. the dealership is Erhard BMW of Farmington Hills, MI Good luck, I've always loved those. SmileWavy |

This is the correct "stripe". These guys might have a lead on some available M1s. I actually like it with the stripe. Very cool. It would look at home on the track.

I like the M1 it is a cool car, but............
It looks pretty ummmm average in the standard narrow body form. But with the flairs and tail it looks amazing. Sort of like a Pantera, standard looks boring, but the flared cars look great. It would be a neat machine to have for sure, what is the performance like? Cheers |

I'd say if the stripes are related to it's racing history, it's ok. But the first one just looks tacky, especially for a street car.
Wayne, if/when you get one, you HAVE to snap a picture of it next to your 959. I can't imagine having two such special and rare cars. |
Wayne is lost in the 1980's...and that's a good thing.
|
Looks like a DeLorean. Which isn't exactly a bad thing, depending on you age I suppose. If the car with the stripes has some sort of provence, then I say go for it, if not...pass. The black one is cool, and the picture of the red one on the curve has been saved.:)

Gotta lose the sun roof though...

http://www.speedbrigade.com/article/index.php?art/id:3 Wayne, I'd stick to looking for a stock, original car, not a tuner special. Try Alf Gebhardt at (918) 446-7000. He used to be a BMW dealer and had a few of these cars. He might know of one laying around. JR |
The only pics I could find of the Erhard example.
