Reproduction decals/stickers
I have a 1982 BMW R65LS bike that I bought new and am restoring. Everything is more or less done (still need new tires), but I'm stuck finding the three "R65LS" transfers that go on the tail and each side of the fairing. They came in two colors - blue and white. The blue ones are available and went with the silver bikes. The white ones are NLA and went with the red bikes.
I know there are people making copies of various 911 stickers (gold engine labels, Marken Weltmeister circular transfers, etc.). A Google search turns up several companies that say they can do this, and I have sent a few emails. Does anyone have experience to share? Thanks.

Go to a local sign shop and ask them. If you can give them a pic, they can do it for you.

If anyone would have it, Bobs BMW would. You are right around the corner from them.

I know Bob's very well. He has lightened my wallet (productively) many a time, including doing a great paint job on this bike. But the decals I need have been NLA for a while now. I have two of the blue (wrong) ones. It seems like it would be simple for someone to reproduce them.

If they are vinyl you can take them and have them scanned and done for under $50 I bet, and 35 of that would be set up fees. If they are a decal that should be pretty straightforward as well

Yes a good sign shop should be able to do it... my parents have a shop and have done decals on several old massey tractors. I'd tell you to give them a call but they are a ways away from you... but yes if you have a good sign shop they should be able to do them for less than $75

it would look better in black than in white, if you ask me, unless it is going on that black side cover, then red would look nifty

R65 LS Stickers
OK, some photos. The stickers shown are approx 3 3/4 by 3/4". The "R65" text is solid blue and the "LS" text is blue outline on white letters. They are printed on Scotchcal film. The text is a little hard to see through the cover sheet. Also attached is a photo of the correct white-letter sticker on a red bike.

Sorry, the color change is from blue to black (solid letters and outline). Both types of stickers have white "LS" letters. I think the blue ones are still available, and one could be sacrificed for the project.

David do you have those stickers in your possesion? If you do you should be able to take them to a sign shop and tell them the colors you want and that you want them printed on scotchcal... the print might be hard for some shops but individual cut letters might look nicer anyways. those are simple enough that it should be pretty cheap.
