A fellow Motor went down today. He got hit in the left rear of his bike by a 54 year old lady who decided to turn left into a 7-11. She was DUI of prescription meds and could not even complete FSTs. The Deputy received minor abrasions and was released from the hospital. He will be back on the bike by the end of the week.

Was this the actual vote or just the primary? This is all too confusing for us Canadians...

Lord knows I like bikes (have 10) but I've reached the point where few things disgust me more than a HD with loud pipes, though I'm sure they've saved countless lives.

I've reached the point where I agree. Several life times ago, I owned such machines and loved them. Times and intrests change.

Thanks. There is one on craigslist real close, must fight temptation.

Today was the first day in a long time it was actually warm. My ride home from the gym around 8pm @ 60 deg was so relaxing.

Tuonos are evil incarnate. Seriously. I scared myself silly on that bike. Made my 1000DS motor in the Duc feel like a lawnmower.

Ride at your own peril. It is grin inducing though...

I wonder if there is a poll on "Coyote Off Topic" about: 'Should I cross the hi-way again'?...

I just sold my 996 early last month, and have been thinking about getting a Yamaha V-Max. However it's only a matter of time until I get back on a Duc...I say do it! Especially since you can lane split in Cali!

Todd - Came across this by accident last night:

http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/bikes/bike.jsp?b=r1200st

I didn't realize BMW still made this bike (R1200ST). Seems it's by special order only. A sport tourer bent toward the "sport" side of the spectrum. A bunch lighter than my RS with the torqu-ey twin-plug R motor. Worth a look. Seems there are some used 05's around at a reasonable price too.

Not too esoteric that you have to send your life savings to a boutique supplier for oil filters, but still a not-so-common beemer. . .

I'm going to go ride an F800S at lunch today. I think that bike might be having some teething problems though...

Still unsure on whether I'll pull the trigger, but I have to do the experiment.

Well, I survived the test ride. Went and rode the F800S. It is the first time I've been on a motorcycle since the crash. Have to admit it was an interesting experience and a little bit of psychological terror. But after a few minutes I remembered why I love being on a bike. Not sure about the BMW though. A little tight leg position and after having a Duc 1000cc v-twin, the 800cc parallel twin was a little buzzy. And the turn signals...silly design.

Have to ride some other bikes though and maybe that one again. Being the first time back up hard to think objectively. I did get into "hyperfocus mode" pretty quickly though. That is one thing I do like about riding in traffic. No cell phone, no stereo, no distractions. Completely in the moment.

I think this one is the next test ride:

I know this has a more relaxed leg position. And the two-tone paint is amazing in person. Tube tires though...not sure about that.
