Can't get bolt out of calipers on '01 Grand Cherokee
Trying to replace rotors/pads on the front of my wife's JGC and the 13mm bolts holding the calipers on refuse to budge (first time i've felt an open ended wrench actually stretch!). I've hit it a few times with PB Blaster but no luck.
Can't fit the impact gun in there either. What do i do here? And, should i be prepared with replacement 13mm bolts? Is grade 8 from Home Depot appropriate for this? Thanks, Erik

Can you get some heat in there?
As crazy as this sounds sometimes trying to tighten a stubborn nut/bolt will crack it loose easier.

Yeah definitely put a pipe on the end of the ratchet or wrench. Mechanical advantage is your friend in this situation.

My breaker bar has gone AWOL but i will find it and put it into action.
Can anyone confirm that grade 8 from Home Depot is an adequate replacement for the bolts holding the calipers on (IF they break)?

Use a box end wrench if you have one as it grips all sides of the bolt head. Add one big friggen pipe and you should bust them loose. When you put it back together put some anti-seize compound on the threads for future removal.

The bolt will probably still be fine if the head isn't rounded. If not, grade 8 would be fine for standard or 10.9 should be fine for metric. I'd try to keep the non-threaded length the same.

Check the Help section of the local parts store, they usually have a few caliper bolts.
