Is there a difference between a "hippie" and a "field hippie"? I've run across the later term a few times in novels and I've always wanted to know if this is a sub-species or just a description of where they live...

We have plenty of Hippies complete with stenciled VW buses & dred locks they don't bother me much. Sometime you see the 55+ year old ones, that's got to suck. Friends from Indiana once asked where are all the stinking hippies come from? I have no idea, however I think they shop at Walmart.

No kidding! Fruitcake describes them so much better.

The use of the term may be coming back into vogue but the true hippy has all but died out. Remember, by definition you can't trust anyone over 30. Its a lost...uh...er...."culture"(?)

Hippies didn't have "dreads" either.
