Why would the editor do such a thing? Was he defending the article author or just lazy? Huge respect lost there for Excellence.

I sold my "famous" 82SC for $13.5K. It was about what I had into it. The car had many many correct upgrase, fully working A/C, repainted correctly, etc. The new Owner drove it from Houston to Washington State.
They are nice cars, and nice to drive, good to look at, but they aren't anything special, really. I sold the 82SC, and kept the 1970 914/6. The 914/6 is a special car, and it's value is really going up. $20K for a nearly perfect car, sure, why not. Nearly $30K? Methinks someone hath an SC for sale....

Last year, my '81 SC sold for 13.5K also. Only advertised here and 4 buyers were lined up inside a week. Nobody even haggled. I obviously didn't ask enough. lol
JR_NYC the pale yellow may be chiffon white. Seen in my signature. I loved the color, but it's not very popular. Last edited by TerryH; 07-23-2008 at 05:53 PM.. |

I'm thinking I will be in the market for an SC in the next 6 months or so...
Prices can keep coming down, fine with me!

If you bought it for an investment....too bad. I bought mine because I've been in love with the lines and look since they were new. Maintain it, drive it, enjoy it...even tho the SC is "common" they still draw the Oooos and Ahhhs.

With all the back date projects happening on this and other sites, maybe mine will be the last SC standing..... Plus, people seem to like to bash them into things! I think they are taking the term "bumper car" too seriously!

See, that's exactly what I am probably going to look for an SC. I want to eventually "bash" it into some sort of replica, not sure what yet tho. The SCs are cheap, galvanized and have rock solid engines. They are also common enough that I don't feel badly about changing the original looks of one.
