I have never really cared for 'Bucks.

Too crowded, so a 20 minute wait does nothing for me.
A couple of drinks and any kind of snack brings you up over $10.

It's like buying a $9.00 beer at the ball game. Sure it's good, but then you are mad the rest of the game...

Starbucks will still take a real estate hit though.

I'll expect them to try to expand their consumer base and become a second Pannera Bread.
That or chinese food and donuts.

The Napa 'Fourbucks' with the drive-thru is supposed to be one the the busiest on the planet.

Their Brazialian music CD is good, though.

TEA?

Did someone mention tea?

Tea is for commies! Does anybody remember Boston?

And yes starbucks over roasts their coffee, although they seem to have backed off on over cooking of the beans.

I only drink it when I am on the road and can't find coffee anywhere else, I prefer to support a local ma and pop business when I can find one.

Napa is a smallish town.

Yet there are 6 Starbucks, 6 7-11's, a Peets's and several independant/drive-ups, not to mention all of the gas stations.

wow, four pages of starbucks.

i drink the stuff. no peets nearby. (had peets this AM tho...happy). starbucks improved flavor with the new pikes peak blend. sorry to see/hear of the loss of jobs. Saying "good riddance" is not being sensitive to the people that make a living at one of the 600 stores going tits up. that sucks.

the real crime in my opinion is the bastardization of a good cup of coffee. what the eff is a maheaato(?), triple foam?

I can't imagine why people go nuclear over a coffee insult. Coffee for cryin' out loud. I don't drink it, and I don't care about Starbucks, but it strikes me that Americans love success until something becomes successful. Then it becomes sport to tear it down. I think the word is schadenfreud.

Yeah, and they recently lost a $100 million court decision that concluded they illegally confiscated tip monies that were the property of the baristas. So here we have a drug peddler that steals from its employees. You guys should be proud.

If you look too deeply into any situation these days, you'll find correlations with something else that you already think is horrible.

That's why we should stop looking. Become a sheeple, and the world is nice and happy again. Learning about the things around you will only fill your head with bad things, and no one wants that. fortunately, beer can solve that problem

I'm laughing my ass off. We agree, sniper. Starbucks is indeed symbolic of what is wrong in this country today. Along with Exxon and a host of others.

You're thinking too much. It's really much more simple than you realize. The "good" and "bad" in commerce (and society) is all about business volume and profits. More business volume and profits = Good. Less business profits and volume = Bad. Taking money from regular citizens and placing that money into the hands of stockholders.....that's what will save our society.

You have just hit upon another of the reasons it annoys me. More symbolism, methinx.

I agree with your agreement of of my assessment of the symbology at play.

Yet more symbolism.

I see nothing wrong with either of those observations- and to me neither demands further explanation. I guess that's where we differ.

BTW, the part in bold is a serious misquote of what i said.

As far as i'm concerned, Dunkin' Donuts coffee is as good as a workin' class man like me should reasonably expect anyway. And it's about $1.50 a cup...
