Ha...thats just up the road in houston. Since I just turned 21 I think I am going to go on the brewery tour. It seems that you just show up with a pizza and buy all the beer you want. Sounds like a blast.

naturally, you are free to drink whatever mix of urine and slug killer you want [which is what spud is used for around here] but it's obvious you never tasted a good ale before

There has to be some reason why Bud has been the best selling beer in the world for the last 50 years or so. Maybe it's those clydesdales (marketing).

There you go.
It's good beer. The marketing helps.

It's not cool to drink Budweiser though. Some of the hip watering holes around me don't even stock it. That's fine - I would not go to them anyway.

Bell's Amber Ale. It goes SO well with a nice piece of red meat from a summer grill.

It's not so bad...

Last weekend in Ft Worth I went to a beer tasting festival Downtown. 20 Beers from Breweries all over, some of them mentioned already here.

There was a girl serving who was worthy of the 'chest' thread. The beer served by her was the best. I wish I could remember the name of it.

no reason austin can't do beer right -- a/c makes it easy, even in hot climes

What are your top 3 then? I can only think of bridgeport and widmer, and I would put them below rogue, particularly their brutal bitter (unfortunately not distributed in austin).

Oh, I forgot. My second favorite, Weihenstephan. They have been brewing it since 1040, some of us could actually be there for their 1000 year anniversary. http://www.brauerei-weihenstephan.de/index.php?page=home_2_1&

I can't believe that you guys were able to influence me in such a pivotal moment...but I was just at my local CVS making my weekly purchase of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale when the above phrase came to my mind. I then purchased a six-pack of Budweiser in addition to the case of Sierra Nevada.

Just drank one of the Budweisers.

Conclusion: It's definitely the marketing, 'cause this stuff sucks!

I guess it's official now ~ I am a beer snob. Yippee.
