Vandals again!!

What would you do if you caught people red handed vandalizing your property???. We have had some problems with one of our rentals in the past weeks, so me and my partner have been cruising the nieghborhood keeping an eye on our places, and wouldnt you know it, I find four kids that fit the description the neighbor gave me of the kids who were spray painting there last week. Kid even gave me the same bs line he gave the neighbor( said he knew the owners of the house). I told him bs, I own it, and to get the #@*% out of here. I'm glad I had my lady ,and kid with me, or I may be in some legal trouble right now. I am a mild mannered guy , but I easily come unhinged when faced with situations like this. I did call the police , but even though they mean well, they show up 45 minutes later and make me sit around and fill out a report. I am done with that angle. been there before. What I would like to do is follow all of them home and vandalize their place, and terrorize them like they do to the good people in the area. You should have seen what they did to the little old ladys house and car next door. Thanks for listenting to my rant!!

The parents of a minor are monetarily responsible for damage. I would handcuff the kid to a tree and wait for the police. Then take the parents to court for damages.

I'd send a bill to the kids parents. I doubt you collect, but it may serve to curb the little bastards.

Can you rig motion sensor to digital looped video?

I'm still looking for automatic firing programs for a water gun or something. Maybe remote sprinkler control?

Well, if someone is vandalizing or trespassing on my property I will be dialing 1911, then 911 (GET IT!). I have a sign that says, "If you are found here tonight, you will be found here tomorrow." The background is a gun .

Unfortunately, you're SOL until you -actually- catch them doing something. So, a good video recording setup as described is probably your best bet. Don't announce it, either; hide it well and deal with the fact that you're going to have to get vandalized at least one more time.

you don't say WHAT they were doing when you found them

the problem is that anything you directly do to them could get you in huge trouble - esp. if their parents can afford lawyers

the best thing to do is to make friends with them - tehn they will vandalize somebody else's house

2nd best is to get their parent involved

what I would do is to sleep outside on a dark night, catch them, and beat the sh$^%&^ out of them, never letting them see me -- but that is not a good idea

Buy them some more paint and then ask them to find a better location for their artwork

More likely would be something like, hey guys, I know that you are having fun and it would suck if I call the cops or find your parents, so why not just move on and we'll forget the whole thing.

In before someone says 'castle doctrine.' To catch them in the act of whatever they were doing (sorry, missed the original thread)... yeah that wouldn't end well. They'll be there when the cops show up, either on their own decision or because they're no longer capable of getting away.

I will resist the urge to suggest what you should spray them with....

If you know who they are, and who their parents are, I would approach the parents.

If no joy, get one of your deer hunter buddies to give you a musk gland to drop down their chimney
