My 1 1/2 yr old daughter is worse than my son. When I can't find her I look up, because she's always at the top of something. However, she's not rough like my son, so I guess that's something. Still very much not the type to sit still.

Dude, my 2YO Sarah is a terror. If she eats her supper, she wears most of it. If it's quiet, we look to see what she's into.

Just now, I hear water running in the bathroom next to the computer desk. "Sarah, don't turn the water on". "I not Daddy". right.

I hobble over and see her playing in the water.

Guys, this was in a short amount of time while the AOL connection woke up.

My son, 5YO, has gotten away from being destructive but one in a while he and his sister will conspire together and get into trouble.

I find my daughter is MUCH more curious than my son. If I can't see her, that means she is into something. She's more than happy to wander off to some other part of our house and get into trouble. I'm guessing she's the one who will try flushing some large object down the toilet someday.

I know a woman who is a renowned child behavior expert. She once told me that a normal two year old girl, when given a picture book with no words should be able to orient the book correctly (right side up) and turn pages one at a time when instructed.

I asked her what a normal 2 year old boy should be expected to do. She told me they generally throw the book or tear out the pages.

We've talked to relatives who told us that "it just means that their little brains are working overtime learning all that they can".

Sarah is one smart little girl, I can tell you. Not Einstein smart but she has learned so much more so much faster than our first it's incredible.

I like to find them and then just listen to what the 2 of them are doing. It's funny to hear them acting out a scene from CARS or SpongeBob. They don't even know what they are saying but they repeat it line for line.

My boys are 17 and 20 years old. The only thing that changes is the outlet for the energy, curiosity, and sense of adventure. Keep those satisfied, and you shouldn't have much trouble. They are like the bore puppy that chews on your slippers when ignored for too long.

When my son was seven he shot one of the barn windows with his BB gun. He didn't lied about when I saw the cracked pane.

I asked him why.

"I wanted to see what would happen."

I'm thankful we had a girl. The effort required to get that child to age 3 was monumental. Can't imagine what raising a boy would be like. Now our daughter is 8 and an amazing kid... willing to learn anything.

Like how to change the oil...

She does spark plugs, too!

Great pics, Lee.

I recieved the license plate light lens I needed today(Thanks to group911!!!!)

Sarah helped me install it and then said "Daddy, I put tools away now". Then she carried my screwdriver to the bench and gently placed it on top. "There you go, Daddy. All done."

That's my girl.

I would NEVER let my daughter help me work on the car. I don't want her to hear all the cursing.

My daughter made me proud when I was working on my furnace. When faced with picking up her doll or a screwdriver, she took off with the screwdriver. My wife just rolls her eyes. It also annoys her that my daughter has taken to playing with my son's airplanes and cars, and shows an incredible amount of interest when planes fly by.

Am I the only one that has a kid like this? I can not believe I am.
Your son sounds like a kindred spirit to my daughter (15 months). She's a combination of the Energizer Bunny and a Girls Gone Wild (SFW baby edition) video. This past month she's learned to turn on the TV and video box. Half the adults who come into our house can't figure it out. She somehow knows the difference between an old (out of service) cellphone/beeper, and my current ones. And obviously only wants the active ones. She climbs everywhere, and seems to prefer choosing unstable objects to conquer. She's constantly into cabinets/shelves/closets/etc and dragging stuff throughout the house. She has no problem walking off without looking back (to see if we're following). And makes a beeline for the street when we go for walks. And the most interesting toy to her is the one with which her older brother is currently playing. My wife looks like she should be in a Calgon commercial.

You ARE lucky Lee, I can't my 14yo boy anywhere near the garage and I never have

Peppy, is he your 2nd? I've heard the 1st child is usually good which tricks you into having another and the 2nd is the terror. I've also been told you're not really a parent until you have at least 2 kids. We stopped at one

Holy hell, I think we have twins! My 16 mo. daughter knows how to turn on/off the TV and change the channel (like when the football is in the air). I gave her my old Razr, she promptly discarded it and went after my Blackberry. Speaking of phones, she's already called 911, as well as a host of others. She's already fallen down the stairs more times than I can count, and loves scaling her playhouse and then attempting to span the gap to the couch. She will simply leave the room without any regard for us typically to crawl into a cabinet and look for poisonous stuff, and is attracted to the street like a magnet to metal. And, she's constantly trying to take her 4 year old brother's toys.

Should I be asking my wife some questions?

Gentlemen, THIS is why we own/drive sports cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, my Sarah asks "Daddy's hot rod?" anytime we go to leave for somewhere.

I told her tonight that Daddy can't drive the hot rod for a while because he has a booboo on his foot.
"I drive Daddy!!" with a big smile.

uh, no thanks Princess. Guys, she's 2. WHat am I going to tell her when she's 16?!!!!

What is amazing to me is how different two children raised in the same home can be. My daughter is the fiend, my son is generally pretty mellow. So here's a run-down on Shelby...

The VCR was her nemesis as a toddler. She stuck golf tees, pacifiers, coins and one one memorable occasion, a sandwich into the all-taking slot. It finally gave up sometime after the sandwich incident.

She decided to help Steve do body work on a car one day. With a small sledge hammer. On a car that didn't need any body work... She went all the way down both sides... Several cars were "rock" victims.

We raised her to not be squeamish over spiders, snakes, etc. She says she found a spider. I was laying on the couch. She dropped it on my chest. It was very much alive. Man did I get off that couch fast.

Broke her bed three times using it as a trampoline or jungle gym. We took the bed away and left just the mattress on the floor.

Drank a bottle of liquid hairspray. No harm. Drunk as a skunk.

She would randomly get on school buses just to see where they were going. When she was in kindergarten... Now believe me, you are in PANIC when the school can't find your five year old...

Went through 14 child care providers in the first five years of her life. They just basically said that there are alot of kids who pay the same and need less attention...

She's 16 now. All that and much much more was done by age 5. She did mellow out. She's graduating one full year early and intends to be a psychologist (grades to back it up). The best thing you can do with kids like this is to keep them from harmful things, keep watch constantly, RUN IF YOU HEAR SILENCE THIS IS THE WORST, and find them something to keep busy with all of the time.

Shelby is very much my child. I did the same stuff as a kid. All part of who you are. Our son is much mellower - takes after Steve. Thank heavens...

My son is 3.5 and my little girl is 16 months. I get them ready in the morning to go to school. I was trying to put his jacket on him and he was protesting since he didn't like that one. She wandered off an showed up with the jacket he likes. The girl is very smart!

He's going to be a lawyer or politician. He was being punished once by my wife and in the middle of it he said "I like your hair"... She couldn't stop laughing. This evening he had a lollypop and I told him not to run with it in his mouth. So he pulls it out of his mouth and keeps running. Got me on a technicality.

Whenever I'm working on the car, he wants a tool and insists on a screwdriver. Then he asks "what can I do with it?" and throws a bit of a fit when there's nothing to be screwed.

My parents say I wasnt that big of a problem but as soon as i could talk my dads hired hands had me saying "Daddys a bonehead" I never really tore anything up though. Did have an interest in cars and motorized things. Always loved rc cars. My g/f is pretty tame too so hopefully when we have kids they wont be little hellians. Now her sisters little girl is gunna be an evil little thing if I have my way. What mean things can be taught to a little girl?
