I didn't say she could dance, I said she was a dancer. One does not imply the other.

Somewhere out there in crazy sister internet land there is a thread called 'brothers'.

Hey, whose voice is that on your work pbx? Man...

maybe sometimes, some people just want to whine a little and not actually be offered a "solution" to their problem...

5 years later...It ain't over...

2 years ago my oldest sister turned 50. I came up with the idea to have a surprise birthday dinner for her. We gathered my parents and flew to San Diego. The husband kept my sister in the dark and took her out for dinner, which almost didn't happen. We also flew my middle sister in. Long story short, everything went very well.

This June is my middle sister's 50th. She is insisting that we do a party for her. She made all sorts of suggestions, like white water rafting with my 80 & 85 yr old parents...Dad is getting to the point where he is accepting going around in a wheelchair since he can't walk very far.

The smart thing would be for everyone to fly to Houston. Nope, we're doing a giant wine country tour - Russian River valley. This is also the sister with the 5 yr old that is has a minimum ADHD and probably a future psychopath/sociopath...

I seriously don't even want to go.

Ouch, that is rough. A wine country tour with a psycho kid, elderly parents and a narcistic sister. Wasn't there a movie like this. Better get more ammo.

Cars and Coffee was great last weekend, we need to catch the next one. 1st sat in april, no crazy sisters, unless its Joe Bobs.

I shouldn't have encouraged you with the christmas present...

My sister hasn't said more than a few sentences to me since she blew up on me that thanksgiving.

Not at my Grandmother's funeral even.

So, for the most part she's missed her nephews for almost 4 years. That's pretty much the lifetime of my youngest since he is actually 4 going on 5 now. He doesn't even remember that I have a sister. My oldest has more or less forgotten about her - doesn't even ask anymore. It's sad - at one point she was our guardian candidate. Now we have to go outside of blood family to folks who act like family (which I'm fine with mostly).

It's a depressing when I think about it so I basically try not to.

Got the same ongoing situation with my next older brother. I'm the youngest of 4 and my sister is gold. My oldest brother............kinda....... but my middle brother is just a selfish, self-centered D*ck and has been his whole life. Considering how we were raised, I once asked my Mom there is no way that brother came from yours' or dad's loins.

Either she had a fling with the retarded milk delivery man (yes we actually had one) or they adopted him because this real parents thought he was too much of a D*ck to deal with.

He's the kind of guy if you were on a road trip and ran out of gas and money, sitting on the side of the road - he'd have couple hun in his pocket and swear to Jesus that he didn't have any.

The running joke in our family concerning him is he is worse than the Grinch. Because as bad as the Grinch was, at least he had a dog and fed it.

Rediculous...............as much as I have heard over the years is that is why people have more than one kid. Because at least one kid is going to be effed up....

Everything revolves around my one and olny sibling, my older borther. If there is a holiday dinner scheduled he'll show up an hour late and my parents make us wait!... He's not married..no kids but, if me, the hubs and the 2 kids are 5 mins late we get the, 'where are you..we're going to go ahead and eat" call..without fail.
I am Jan, I am supposed to be the self centered pain in the arse. grrr

---Start my rant--- I've been doubly stricken. Both my sisters make me wish I were an only child.

My older sister was always supported by my dad. She simply could never make ends meet. After he died, she burnt though a high five digit $$ inheritance in a couple years. Last year, she showed up for an unannounced visit that lasted two months, the second time that's happened. I also have a younger, batschit crazy, borderline bipolar, fanatically religious sister. Whenever she's around, I'm watching for signs of green pea soup to start oozing from her mouth. I'm sure I've seen her head spin around a time or two. We invited she and her husband to Thanksgiving last year. All she had to do was bring a green bean dish. She showed up 90 minutes late with a dish that still needed to be baked...and she lives 1.2 miles down the road. And, she brought a stranger from her church. ---End Rant---

You can't choose your family but you can certainly avoid them like the plague.

Wise words. And it is virtually impossible to change them either. They have to change themselves if that concept is possible?!
