Registered Agent for LLC

What's the easiest, cheapest and quickest way to become your own Registered Agent for your LLC? I formed with Legal Zoom and they put themselves as my Registered Agent and keep trying to hit me up for $160 a year. I've tried to find a form on the Calif. website but not having any luck. Thanks guys.

An LLC can always file an amended Statement of Information, at any time.

Read the instructions. Since it is an amendment, there isn't even a filing fee. (Amazing you can still do ANYTHING in Cal without a fee!)

I would have thought you'd have found the info on the CA web site. I'm sure it varies by state, but I set mine up directly with the state (NC) using the information provided. Maybe someone in CA will chime in...

Nolo Press (www.nolo.com) has the simplest forms and such. I've formed a number of LLC's using their LLC Maker software package.

I'm my own registered agent. You need a different agent if you are not a person living in the state. For example, if I incorporate a Delaware Corporation with our principal offices in California, I need a registered agent in the state of Delaware. If I form a corp or LLC in the state of California, then I can be my own agent. AFIK, I'm not an attorney, etc.

Thanks for the info. I had found a form for resigning as Registered Agent, so I thought there must be one for changing. I'll send in the amended form today. Thanks for all your help!
