The plot was just an unusually low budget, unimaginative variation of the already tired "kidnapped" action movie. The last one of this genre I watched was "Man on Fire" which I thought was infinitely better. Turn the knob up to 11 for the amount of belief that one must suspend in this clunker. Not even cool fakeness like riding on the tail of a F-35 (yeah, I know) Raptor, but more the lame "the bag guys just ain't fightin' back" variety of fake. As far as cast, Famke Janssen was less a bytch when playing the Phoenix. Must have blew the X-men paycheck. I felt deep sorrow for Liam Neison, who's financial situation or lack of better offers can be the only reasons he took the role. Even his usually fine performance was monumentally flacid, until now, unmatched since Costner's performance in "Robin Hood". As for the other nameless, B actors, I was rooting for the bad guys to kill them off. I left the theater craving an Audi for some weird reason. Must have been the unrelenting product placement. I give it a D+.

Flame away.
Not gonna flame you. Because at the end in the yacht. Who was driving it? Liam neeson killed everyone. Just little things.....

As for the Audi thing, that started years ago in RONIN (great movie) with an S8, then went to one or more of the TRANSPORTER (ok at best) movies that featured S or A8's . Dont forget bout that will smith movie I ROBOT (never saw it) with the precursor to the R8. VAG has been "pimpin'" and "turnin' out" AUDI 's a$$ for years.

I know what you mean though about wanting an AUDI after leaving , But I've wanted an S8 for some time but am afraid of the build quality.

Overall if you put the shortcomings aside, it was IMO a good flick.

My wife & I saw it yesterday. She thought it was pretty lame. I thought it was OK at best. I did like it that he killed so many bad guys.

spoiler alert.....

good movie. but the were a few "oh come on" moments. when that pipe comes apart at the perfect moment, etc. and most of the action scenes seemed done on a budget. plus the how he just walked away leaving all the other kidnapped girls chained there.

Don't get me wrong - it pushed all the right "shoot that pos!" buttons. And that he did. No plot twists of any kind. Pure junk food. I did keep thinking that if he would just stop killing off the bad guys he might get to the bottom of things a bit quicker, but then again, where's the satisfaction in that?

While I would normally worry about spoilers, this movie is just too predictable. If you're looking for surprises, look elsewhere.

I saw it...perfect in that dumb action movie sort of way. Just like Independence Day and Con Air, they are not good movies, but they can keep my interest very well for 1.5 hours.

I saw Taken last weekend at The Alamo Drafthouse (a place where you can watch a movie and drink alcohol legally at the same time) and it is the perfect movie for that environment. Pure dumb fun.
