Cook top woes
The electric starters on 2 of the burners constantly ignite.
I unplugged it and use a lighter for the time being. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Do you mean they wont turn off? There is a module for the ignitors. I had to replace mine on my old range.

Is there anyway you can take the rotary switch apart of those 2 burners, to see if the ignition is stuck in the "on" position?

No, the module is the control box for the ignitors. Basically its like a ignition coil. It is under the cooktop. Usually a large ceramic box with wires coming out of it going to the ignitor electrodes. Check the contacts on the knobs first like Mat said

I had that happen with mine, and I had to really clean them out and they worked fine after that.
For instance, I'd start the lower left, and the spark for the lower right would continuously fire. |

My mom had this problem at thanksgiving, hers fires all the ignitors whenever you turn on any of the knobs, they kept firing even though the burners were all in the off position. I pulled the wires off the switches / knobs until I found the offending knob. I sprayed some brake parts cleaner into the knob followed by some w-d 40 and put the wires on and all was well, the next day I went back and gave all the switches a good cleaning.
Dirty switches. Let us know the outcome.

A spray of CRC electronics cleaner and problem solved.
Just a squirt of cleaner beneath the knobs all it took, thanks guys.

Pretty smart having the napkins and paper towels next to the back burners.

These can both be extremely helpful when tackling something new and unknown on the appliance front
has lots of repair info online. I've used the resources here to diagnose, repair and buy the parts for the repair for a couple of refridgerators, dryers, etc... http://a-1appliance.com/ This also has some good resources for diagnosis/repair info. http://www.applianceaid.com/
