Hum, I guess I would flip the lights to illuminate the ground and not have the lights affect your vision at the trees or looking up to the stars.
Beautiful backyard. |

rnln,
I live in Santa Clarita, which is 20 miles up interstate 5 from downtown Los Angeles. Besides my 18 acres, (which I can't develop for CC&R reasons) I'm backed up on about a thousand acres of state land.

I added some more outdoor lights, 16 in total. Most of the night ones were shot ISO 800 with 2 seconds and F2.8. May add one or two more lights. Gotta play with the angle of some of the lights. I tried lighting the trees from the rear, and I didn't like the look. I'm running CFLs. What you see there is less than 500 watts, including the ones on the patio.

nice treehouse, camo paint job would make it even more unobtrusive
Santa Clarita? Wasn't Spencer Tracy the Chief of Police there during that "Big W" business

you are a lucky dog -- someone else would have developed it long before if it was legal.
you might want to look into some tax breaks for wildlife enhancement projects (FLOWERS, BUTTERFLIES - not necc'ly WOLVES & COUGARS) I'd have some tent platforms and or gazebos spaced out in various nice spots for temporary use and an early am view. |

Looked into it years ago. The problem is you have to make it open to the filthy, unwashed peasants, AKA "the Public"

ok, but -- like a historic pres. property you don't have to advertise it
and - see - if you can close it down if there are problems.... i.e. give up tax breaks in exchange for not opening it up to public anymore |

For anyone who's interested, I ran across this in our local entertainment rag's "Abode" section at lunch today... $40 for six stick-'em-in-the-ground solar walkway lights ain't too bad.

![]() Got tired of friends tripping over the change in elevation in the dark. Lagged in 60 or so clips to hold in the rope lights.
