We had a couple of pets cremated and kept their urns in the living room.

We got a new cat, every time she walked by the old cats ashes she would hiss and spit.

But only the cats ashes, never the dogs.

Weird.

not sure i needed to know that. we have ashes from all our pets and in the end our wills instruct to put us all together in one urn. from your post, it seems the whole community could be in there.

My Golden Retriever/Chow mix has had it done on both his back legs approximately a year and a half apart. Although it was very expensive it was well worth it. The alternative would have been to repair the ligament. That would have been a cheaper surgery with a shorter recovery time but it would not have been a long term solution. When our dog, Kuma, came home he was in a great deal of pain for the first few days. He does not do well being confined in small spaces so crating wasn't an option. He did a great job of staying off his feet (I think the drugs helped there). In the end, his recovery took about 12 weeks each time. and he has been 100% since.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Good luck,
Michael

I will get the pics uploaded in a few. Right now she is asleep on my foot.

So, the last few days have been ok. She is doing ok, the pain meds have definitely helped.

Her incision isn't nearly as bad as I we thought it was going to be. She does have cankle now from the swelling, but its gone way down.

She is very tentative about putting her foot down, but she is happy.

The meds have made her constipated though, and that means she has to squat for a while, which hurts, so it has been very challenging to get her to go to the bathroom.

Overall, she is doing well. We just wish she could swim! The pool is perfect now and she is just staring at it when she is in the living room.

Her free to swim day is July 4th, so it will be one heck of a party.

Pics to follow when she wakes.

Great stuff. Glad it went fine and she seems happy. The rest will come with time and love, something she has plenty of. Try some metamucil with her food to help with the constipation, but check with your vet first. Or just get more fiber in her.

Pics

So, here are some pictures of my beautiful Emma.

Now the question is, how do I get her to just relax and not want to walk everywhere!?!

Thank you all for the information and advice. I will update as she improves.

She is clearly herself again, and is wagging at full speed again.

She just had her 2 week check up (a couple days early), and her stitches out.

The vet said she was doing great and that she can do 2 sets of 5min walks a day.

She is so happy to be able to walk around outside! It makes the wife and me so happy.

She is also completely off the pain meds and anti-biotics.

Just some time left to go and 2 sets of x-rays.

Oh, and the vets office is completely packed with really hot vets and interns. It makes the visits oh so much nicer.
