Sounds like they need a good "Cool Collar" thread.:D

Some good guys over in the 911 corner, but a lot also post here. If you are into 911s, this place is hard to beat.

That'll cleanse the palate. ;)

SOMEONE wish this away to the cornfield

Why is Rennlist so much more aggressive? I frequent almost 20 forums and none compare with the off-the-wall insults and contempt.

you'll have to look far and wide-----

[QUOTE=Tass 928;4547769
And this REALLY only my opinion.....there are some individuals out there that have huge sums and uncountable hours invested in advancing the performance capability of these cars. I feel that these folks have paid their dues, shared this hard earned knowledge freely and deserve a certain degree of respect.[/QUOTE]

That's all fine and good, as long as you don't have a "I am the god of all 928's" attitude......

Spend you hard earned money, and then treat everyone else as if the are (because they are) your equal. Spending $60K on two motors and only gaining 80 HP doesn't qualify as a brilliant achievement. Vario-cam transplant was interesting, but it too hardly qualifies as earth shattering, considering it's now a non-issue with said person's motor......

I support that sentiment. 100 percent.

I strongly suggest that this thread, and all others related to Rennlist remain stickly "Pelicanish" in nature. In other words - keep the bashing, name calling, "he started it..." ...etc. away.

Thanks,
-Z-man, Pelican Admin

PS: If you must resort to name calling, whatever you do, DON'T call the mods or admins poopy-heads. ;)

I'll only call you Z-MAN, THE-MAN.......

Jim Im' calling you on that pic,, you've already posted it once and I think someone pointed out that Cheese Wiz in a can is the correct processed product to go with Ritz and Box wine!!! Guess you just can't teach culture to some people!!:D:D

Porsche-O-Phile 03-16-2009 06:37 PM

What's a "Rennlist"?

I think I vaguely remember someplace with a name like that... Hmm. Kinda' fuzzy. Guess I've repressed it all. No loss.

m21sniper 03-16-2009 06:46 PM

I left there about 3 years ago with a hardy "F you" to Randy and his minions. I was one of the trailblazers. ;)

To this day it boggles my effin' mind that people pay for an internet forum when all it's competitors are free. But people do it...

watercooler 03-16-2009 06:59 PM

Guys, It's just an Internet forum.

There is better things in life then screaming at your computer.

10 years from now you will not remember any of these guys that you dislike, but you may still have, or have fond memories of you 928.

In our Porsche online community, there always seems to be 3 constant pissing matches.

1) 911 vs 928 guys

2) 944 vs 928 guys

3) Pelican 928 guys hating rennlist 928 guys. I've never read any "anti-Pelican" posts on Rennlist. Mind you I don't seem to have much car time these days.

Give the 928's reputation a brake, and stop looking for a reason to hate someone. You will enjoy your car more, and maybe live longer.

You forgot: Everybody hates the 914 :p

m21sniper 03-16-2009 07:17 PM

I cannot recall anyone ever hating on my 928.

masraum 03-16-2009 07:21 PM

I started on the Rennlist 911 group (email, not http) back in 1998 or 1999. I even paid for a year of membership. I learned a lot and met (virtually) a bunch of really great guys. There was plenty of tech and lots of camaraderie. I left because of a change that kept me from being able to check throughout the day and came here. It seems like ultimately, that was for the best. It's a real shame that what was a great place has deteriorated.

Shaun @ Tru6 03-16-2009 07:42 PM

how on Earth did you get an '02 Civic front bumper to fit your 928?:D

Alas I only have a free membership so I am not allowed to go into OT. But I have found the 944 board to be of little help when I cant get it here.

jeffgrant 03-16-2009 08:19 PM

I quite enjoy the racing/track forums over there... MUCH busier and more interesting (for the most part) than those of Pelican, IMO.

That being said, I was a paid member for 1 year about 5 years ago, and never renewed, but still visit regularly.

I did it once. It became apparent that the info I was interested in was not behind membership doors.......:p

Shawn, that isn't a Civic bumper, its a Cayenne/996 Turbo bumper, jeez, get it right!

I actually like how it looks watercooler. Do you have any more pictures? What is that in the rocker panel? Does the exhaust exit there?

With regards to Rennlist, the 964 turbo forum is pretty good and has been very helpful. I also like the "Random Pics" and "I'd hit it", Guns and knives threads. Since they followed the path of Pelican and split out Religion and Politics it has been much better, but I typically just look for the above mentioned threads in the OT and ignore everything else.

I paid a number of years ago, and haven't reupped in a bit.

Bill
