As the Rennlist turns ...

For those that are not following the drama channel, RandyV is no longer a mod, Gretch is, and Sterling just threw in the towel and left. On the technical side member pages seem missing, temporarily I assume, and searching may be working again.

New products have been announced by Roger, Carl, and a new guy that makes plastic stuff for the 944 guys.

Normy 03-15-2009 06:35 PM

Heh! I'm not surprised about any of the above. When you basically attack your PAID membership...[by the way, did I mention PAID membership?] can there be any surprise when your business turns sour?

Hello? I call this last the "Randy" effect.

A certain moderators firing: it was only a matter of time. "Anger management" training only goes so far, apparently.

N!

MPDano 03-15-2009 06:43 PM

It will never change over there. The Mods over there must be inbred as the new ones opening statement sounds just like Randess. Then when they get bored, they come over her and attack us. Who's the new guy selling stuff over there? Anything interesting?

rhjames 03-15-2009 06:47 PM

Simply amazing-----self destruction at it's best, pitiful at it's worst.

It's the internet.

You're likely to have people who disagree with you from time to time.

Some folks don't worship the ground you walk on, no matter how trick your mess is.

You need big shoulders and thick skin if you are going to be a participant in this silliness......

The current moderator pulled a trigger before things got totally stupid.

No one got banned.

And that's a big change. ;)

bad to worse

I thought that Randy V was bad and that it just couldn't get any worse over there, and then this Gretch idiot steps in as some psuedo-mod. This self proclaimed "mountain man" and supposed "sunuva*****" haunted me for years and even followed me over to Reutterwerk. He's another typical biased, tech only, his way or the highway, moron that fits right in over there. He once said that I "was thrown out of the higher class forum", of which I'll have to assume he was refering to Renny. I guess he didn't realize that I viewed my being tossed out of Rennlist as comparable to being tossed out of a trecky convention. Thank you! Anyway, I look forward to many more Renny's eventually working their way out of the soap opera and into the real men forums of Pelican and Reutterwerk. Oh, and real women too! ;) I guess that means your out, Risky Biz! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pyth.gif

The fundamental conflict with rennlist is that its supposed to be a forum of technical discussion, but sponsor products get special treatment, and criticism gets "moderated".

and........

I've been called a host of things, none of which are true, and those who've done the deal go undisciplined. I counted at least 6 in one short thread, that sent a (popular) person over the edge........

Then again, maybe it's all true.

I have multiple personalities, I know nothing about anything, I constantly write off topic, I disregard agreements about playing nice even when I'm playing nice, I..........the list goes on.

The point is, if they can't reasonably debate with you, they resort to name calling or worse. If you write something that makes them think, it's devastating.

I thought it was a technical forum.

It's not. It's a social gather place where anything goes until it gets near out of hand.

Subject matter has no bearing at all. None at all.

Guys,
You know I can write a book on this that would be a best seller.
I'm learning so much about the wolf pack over there, even stories of theft and deception by some of the main players. Anyone who wants to share a story about a prominent Rennlister, please do via email or PM. I'm collecting them so when the time comes, all of you will take their places...because all of you are kind and gentle (for the most part; unless you're a new vendor trying to pull yourself out of the mud)

The new guy selling stuff is Mason from 928 World Wide. I've talked to him the old fashioned way, by phone, many times and he's completely for real! He doesn't kiss ass, he doesn't sell out and he's working hard for his living. Therefore, he's being tormented by the idiots that run the ladies bridgeclub, better known as Rennlist. Now, Gretch is your typical trecky type with computer skills and a penchant for buggery. He's one sided with no appreciation of anything outside the box. Just like the other 15 or so over there that harrass and intimidate and thus turn that site into a kiss ass or get out environment. Keep in mind that these 15 or so Renny's are the same type of people that were tossed into their lockers in high school, only to avenge themselves in the virtual world of Rennlist. They group attack people with views or opinions that are anything but their own. And then there are those that simply kiss ass to follow along with the attackers to try and be popular in their treky world (attn; Risky Biz and Andre Hedrick). Mason has the ability to become an extremely valuable asset in the 928 community. As a PAYING sponsor, he also has the ability to turn that site upside down, shake out the freeloading bad apples, negativists and ass kissers and maybe even redeem that site. I wish him the very best in all of his endeavors and best of luck to all but those 15 ugly ass Rennlisters.

Todd.....never happier! :D

OMG, I think I pee'd a little bit in my pants. That is so funny. I did get that feeling from Randess too, I tried at one time to work over the misunderstandings with over a beer since we both live in SD, but he said I hurt his feelings. Anyways, you hit it right on as far as the "play by our rules or hit the road" attitude. I am perfectly happy with the forums here and always get great help in my troubleshooting. No drama, sometimes some fun, but always a helpful hand. Keep up the good work Pelican! SmileWavy

Welcome aboard! SmileWavy What will you miss from Rennlist? "use the search engine!" will probably be the most notable, but along with that, no whinning, crying, backstabing, ass kissing, pigpilling, "this is a technical forum!", "post a pic or stay out!", or any other warm and fuzzy feelings. The only exception? When 3-4 of them from Renny come over to Pelican to try and team up on someone here. They work in groups over there. What will you get from Pelican? Genuine answers from genuine people, respect, and a feeling of unity. We're all glad your here. Prepare to see alot more familiar names in the coming months. ;)

Todd :)

sonett3 03-16-2009 09:22 AM

Rennlist is the drama channel. If you start some truth over there then they all( You know the names) just start in on you ..and then Randy v starts in on you as well then bans you from rennlist. If you ask me randy v should have been pulled from this along time ago. Just my 0.02.

low miler 03-16-2009 10:12 AM

Hey Gretch,

I see the whinner is now gone (Sterling), though we all know he'll be back (needs the attention), but with alot of real and genuine people jumping from the Rennlist bridgeclub lately, I'd say the group removal of your ass is a very serious possibility. ;) And I gotta tell ya, I couldn't be happier to see it finally happen! :D I'll be watching very closely with great anticipation. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...oilet_claw.gif

Awwww, what happened to Randy?

Danglerb 03-16-2009 11:41 AM

Geeze, I had no idea people needed to drain the pus from old RL wounds again.

In person I haven't found one of the rennlist people to be a bad sort, even some I am sure are slippery as hell. I also don't hold it against people for being human, or unprofessional when doing business as an amateur.

Hopefully ANY of the RL people that come here won't get RL rehashed on them, the past is the past.

Tass 928 03-16-2009 01:27 PM

If you view the various 928 forums as "sub forums" of a larger 928 community, then the name calling and bashing in this thread are no different than the r-list ills being discussed. It is really not difficult to be accepted in all of the forums and having access to them all makes owning these cars a lot easier. These are tech forums.....it's foolish to lose such a valuable resource over personality disputes.

rhjames 03-16-2009 02:19 PM

12/29/08----

I may not return after my (lawsuit) absence.

Not an exact quote, but you get the idea.

He said the same thing earlier last year, and twice more before that.

Let see.....

He got into a fight with a number of people--the exact number escapes me over the years, but the evidence is there for the reading--, had a stroker built at his direction (and when it came apart it was the tech's fault?? and then put a bunch of crap on his website about it?? Uh, he told them how to build it), came over here to pull an impersonation stunt for which he got banned (and then cried his way back), then proceeded to lecture me about how to build a stroker (which I basically said thank you, but no thank you), got pissed about that and had his account here shut down, bad mouths the entire community (I did this to my car to satisfy me, not anyone in the 928 community), then got into a pissing contest with a vendor--the result of which was a lawsuit---a lawsuit of all things????---and then cries foul about his flywheel thread (picks a fight with me), and then gets pissed off at John Dunkle/Gretch/and the new mod-bad mouthing them all (they didn't have the balls to call me), and then announces his departure for us to give our sorrows about.......

Yes, Todd, his rant at you over on r-werks was another example of this. He failed to see your knowledge and the value of your presentations, and then went on to make a list of what a 928 owner/enthusiast should be. He has only owned one 928. How many 928's have passed through your hands, regardless of ownership? Dozens? More? Does the Porsche technician who's worked on 928's all his life, but never owned one, become any less of an enthusiast? Hardly. He could easily work on ass draggers or Cayenne's......And he complains that you only farm out your work and then cut a check? Did he do all of the work on his car? No. He spent $60K on two motors and only got 80 HP for it. Again...this is "my world as I see it, and to hell with the rest of you".

You can't say anything about his car or him except for a compliment. No complaints, no disagreement, no debate. It's his way or the highway. There is no compromise.

If this isn't a pattern of self destructive/egocentric behavior, well.......I just shouldn't really say what else is on my mind.

One of my best friends was like this guy. Not quite as arrogant, but had no life outside of his car.

He swallowed a shotgun blast four years ago.

This guy needs help. Professional help.

I hope for his sake he gets some...........before he does something really stupid.

You just never know........

Your first post on Pelican, and all for me there mountain man? I see your making alot of new friends over there you scary old "sunuva*****" (his self-proclaimed image, and certainly not my opinion ). The winds of change are blowing over on Renny....can you feel it range master? Well I certainly can! SmileWavy Your hide behind a computer screen bullying with 20,000 posts days are coming to an end, probably sooner than later. People are getting tired of grumpy old computer geeks telling them what they can and can't say. Don't go ordering any new "lifetime Rennlist moderator" shirts anytime soon. Just borrow Randy V's for now and then donate them to Goodwill next month. SmileWavy

Todd......lovin every minute of it! :D

And that's why you posted in this thread, right? Based on that and that you joined into the bashing of Russ, I have to wonder if you're the lead kotex in the Wash Woman Club.

I can assure you that the BS from Rennlist will not be allowed to spill into Pelican. If you have any doubts, just keep it up and find out for yourself.

No, thats not the problem. That is the result of the problem.

IMHO the problem lies with people who post without considering how their comments will be understood or received by others.

Just because you may think it, that does not mean you should post it. Sometimes getting along with a group requires a little restraint.

And this REALLY only my opinion.....there are some individuals out there that have huge sums and uncountable hours invested in advancing the performance capability of these cars. I feel that these folks have paid their dues, shared this hard earned knowledge freely and deserve a certain degree of respect.

Normy 03-16-2009 05:17 PM

Rennlist.

-I am tempted to send them an email describing myself, my interests, and my history at this website...along with my theories as to why I am not allowed to post there any more.

[I was banned for calling "DonW from Cape Cod" also known as Don Watson, who has homes on Cape Cod and near Naples, Florida......an "old idiot". He didn't like the fact that I pointed out the folly of his silly stupid religion.

I intend to not only tell Don Watson what I think of him when I eventually meet the shriveled-up OLD buzzard...I might then resort to other means. I really, really want Don Watson to know the depth of my antipathy towards him. I can bench-press 200 pounds on the free-weights at Bally's; I wonder how well he knows his dentist~

Danglerb 03-16-2009 05:29 PM

Just like walking across a pasture, pay attention and you get to the other side with clean boots.

Pelican doesn't have enough drama to fuel an insurance commercial, just don't step in the occasional pile.

nostatic 03-16-2009 05:30 PM

I bailed from Rennlist many years ago (so I don't know the current cast), and while we welcome newbs I will say that if threads turn into "rennlist-lite" with a bunch of individual attacks/bashing and whining they (the threads) will be sent to the cornfields rather quickly. We have our own drama here - no need to import any.

I support that sentiment. 100 percent.

I strongly suggest that this thread, and all others related to Rennlist remain stickly "Pelicanish" in nature. In other words - keep the bashing, name calling, "he started it..." ...etc. away.

Thanks,

Gretch is a good moderator. Bob R. is top notch. Some would say otherwise, but I like what is happening over at Rennlist. Maybe it is worth a second look...

Going over old news is like relighting an old cigar. It fills the room with a haze, and leaves an odd taste in your mouth. It is best to cleanse the palate, so as to be ready for something new.

Take a tip from Dave. Maybe read his posts again. He is a prime example of someone who has never posted rashly, and who extends himself to the community. What he is saying is not for his own benefit.

Dueller 03-16-2009 05:54 PM
