I think I'm going to find a nice island to live on

http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/04/15/ashton.cnn.twitter.battle/?iref=mpstoryview

I used to study/follow these types of technology. Over the past few years I've slowly retreated from them, and in fact no long am active on Facebook, myspace, etc. Pretty much just my blog and here along with a few other forums.

Following the world in 140 word increments. Great.

With that hot wife he has, you would think he could find better things to do....

What a douchebag.

Oh, no, Todd. Not 140 words. 140 characters. Even spaces count. It's even worse than you thought.

Ah, come on. Let the dweeb with the hot wife win. Then he'll have to cough up for 10,000 mosquito nets. His microfame will be gone in nanoseconds anyway.

How much is twitter paying this tool to promote them?

This is the second time I have heard about twitter and Ashton at the same time, the last time was on the local news as they discussed Ashton like he was their pal and how naughty he was for posting his wife's bikini clad bottom on twitter.

It was at that point I had decided any interest I may have had in twitter was gone.

Thanks for qualifying my decision.

Any mention of 'island' around here and I get a little nervous.

I thought maybe a self-imposed ban, Todd

I never thought much of him anyway, this doesn't change anything for me. I don't even care who is more popular, CNN or him. I don't watch either one.

quote from Kutcher

Quote:
"I found it astonishing that one person can actually have as big of a voice online as what an entire media company can on Twitter," Kutcher says in a video, which was shot from inside a car and was posted on Qik.com.
Was that a sentence? Was it originally in German and translated?

I am actually surprised I opened the link at all, let alone made it to that paragraph.

Twitter is stupid and no matter what Kutcher does, he will always have a special place in my heart as Michael Kelso

Seriously, I do not get this count down to a million followers
I use Twitter but for professional reasons and can find NO F’N REASON to follow Kutcher!

Any users I follow tend to be intelligent, on topic, professionals.

It'll be over right after the Internet fad is done.

No pets.com stock, but I'm still on the net.

But, to each his own, of course.

It took me several months to understand and get into Twitter - it's just another network kind of like eBay is just another market to buy and sell stuff. No magic.

Take care,

Actually I find it to be symptomatic of much of what is wrong with the world right now. Always on, minding everyone else's business, yet doing it in 140 characters or less.

Sorry...I'll pass. Just like I quit Facebook. At some point you have to just say no, and pay attention to your your own analog world and relationships rather than digital constructs. But to each their own...

Didn't we have the discussion?

Twitter is just a tool and it can be defined in many ways, all dependent on how it is used.

With much due respect, you seem to be having, what I would consider, a rare snap of narrow sightedness.

Must one decide on only one's actual, deep relationships or "digital constructs"? I choose both and find each enhances the other.

Like you said initially, YMMV.

All the best,
