THE IRONMAN
|
The today's technology combined with aircraft desing redundancy save the day a lot of time. As a Civil Aviation Safety Inspector, I see this happen everyday.

I don't know what you do but I bet there's a line of guys behind you willing to do it for less money than you make. How would you feel if it came that close to home? As an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer myself, I find the outsourcing of maintenance nauseating. I spent two years in college and four years apprenticing to learn my trade and have worked my way up from mopping the floor for minimum wage to earning a livable income using the years of experience I've gained. Why would it be OK for me to find myself out of work just because some Sri Lankan ex-pat is willing to do my job for half the money so Joe the Plumber can fly to Tahiti for $20 less? Ask anyone in manufacturing how they feel about moving jobs offshore. ![]() Do you know why the US was such a strong force in WW2? It was the industrial machine on home turf that gave you the advantage. Now that your manufacturing is all in China, who's going to build your weapons of war when China eventually invades? Even if they did sell you weapons to fight themselves, they'd be second rate in quality anyway. ![]() But I digress... Airline travel is a luxury and should be priced accordingly. Pilots and mechanics are trained professionals as much as any doctor or lawyer and should be compensated for their skill and professionalism.

Well I'm on the ground in San Antonio. No crappy airline mechanics killed me on the way down.

I'm combining this news story with the other story today, where we had terrorists try to buy and use Stingers, in NY, along with plastic explosives for a Jewish Temple.
