I HATE Porsches. Especially those 911's! Bunch of pricks. Think they're faster than everybody, think just because they have more money they own the road. Boy, I can't wait until the Obama administration has such cars legislated out of existence.

You guys need to learn to use this reflex to your advantage.

I frequently get people who are frantic to pass me while I'm doing 80 in the 911. If I play my cards right I can make them think that the most important thing in my life is to get back around them. This usually will make them drive faster - and I can sit back and let them run interference for the speed traps. It's amazing how often this happens, and how easy it is to get them to be the rabbit.

Around here one has to be mellow about it all, or get your head blown off.

I just let it all go because once upon a time I was the speeding jerk. That would have been when I was somewhere around 20 YO driving a Corvette. Lessee, that would have been the year the 911 came out. Older 327 FI Corvettes were cheaper and faster.

We've all been stupid at one time or another.

The other day (when it wasn't raining) I was out for a leisurely drive and some guy in a pick up ahead of me was doing about 55 in a 30 - I was going about 35 and as I passed a bicyclist that was coming down the opposite way he starts screaming and shaking his fist at ME ! : "HEY SLOW DOWN !!!!"

Happens all the time.

Causes me to down shift and step on it.

But, a hell of a lot more folks drive mustangs than drive Porsches...and "they" always go for the smaller numbers first.

Gary Wright, may he rest in peace, taught me that trick decades ago. He called it "pigeon hunting". "First, you bait a pigeon", he said.

Craziest ones around here drive mini-vans with a close second to the pickups.
The ones that are the worst in my 911 seem to be Toyota Camrys. What the heck is with that.

Had a couple of great experiences. First is I was at a stop light in Camarillo about 4 years ago and up pulls this big old cadie, with a distingished couple in it in their 70s. Guy rolls down the window and says he really liked my care. Both he and his wife had big smiles. That was nice.

Other time outside the UPS store and I come out and two teenage guys are checking out the 911. Nice kids, really knew alot about the car and we just enjoyed talking car stuff. That was nice.

Now in my 2008 tahoe, its the Smart (dumb?) cars and the prius idiots. Saw a wrecked smart car the other day, that tangled with a bob tail truck. Very ugly. Those guys have a real tude.

It showed up in movies usually by a less then likable figure and it never seemed to be forgotten. Chances are those that still have problems with them are in their 40's and older and still reliving their youth.:

Damn good point 89911. People can seem to let **** go. Even after 20 years. Sure the car is only worth 20K now, but then, you were a big swinging dick with one.

When my wife tells people I have a Porsche she says "you know the 80's one, like everyone thinks of..."

Everyone (well it seems like everyone) wants to pass the old red Porsche.
I merged on the highway a few weeks ago with a little blip of the throttle to a speed that would get a large ticket and backed it down to a reasonable speed.
I looked in the rear view and saw a Dodge diesel with a 30 foot bumper hitch travel trailer (swaying madly) come flying up behind me. He backed off the throttle once he was by.
I would rather have a guy like that in front of me than behind me....

For sure, my 911 causes people to react, but overall I get more sympathy than hate.
With the Targa top down doing 30 mph a young guy in a SUV yelled at me :"Are you selling your car?".
Another older dude in his pickup stopped by my side at the red light started a conversation:
"What year is it? I love em"...Maybe I get sympathy because the paint is really crappy.
Yes on the highway, I was accelerating on the right lane and a white bimmer stayed glued on my ass,
literaly 1 foot behind me. At some point, around 85 mph, I got tired of that $hit and just lifted my foot
off the gas until he got the message and passed. Idiots will be idiots forever.
