Do you believe in UFO's?

I think this has been discussed here before (que RedUFO), but here goes another poll.

I see two explanations from my Christian bias on UFO's:

1. God may have created another world galaxies away from us. Perhaps those beings he created never fell to sin. So that would explain why they have the techology to travel across the universe to earth, yet we do not have the means to travel to their world. But they probably don't want to get too close to us, given our sinful nature.

2. They may be a means of transportation for angels, spiritual beings, and when the rapture comes

I've never seen a UFO, but would like to experience it sometime. (Minus the anal probe stuff)... My mom says that years ago, she saw what she can best describe as a large glowing bowl-shaped vehicle streak across the sky.

I think this question is poorly worded. Unidentified Flying Objects are of course real. Many times I have been unable to truly identify birds, bats and aircraft because of low light levels or distance.

I have even experienced flying debris that I could not identify with any precision in racing accidents.

But, since there is not any reproducible, verifiable evidence for visitation by extra- terrestrial life forms, I do not believe anyone has seen that type of UFO.

Is it possible? Of course, the probability of life in the known universe virtually assures us that this is possible. But having a severe lack of evidence is a real hindrance to actual "belief".

OK - to clarify - by UFO, I am referring to alien spacecraft. Vessels from other planets which are either controlled by intelligent beings, or have alien being within them.

The lack of evidence also gets me....

+1

Due to religious delusion, as introduced by Z-man himself, I see this discussion moved to PARF in short order.

Not to start a flame war or to denigrate your chosen beliefs, but would your statement not also apply to religion? No need to answer, I am not trying to pick on you. Carry on.

Regarding whether or not this thread is PARF-able -- the subject matter is UFO's. I think expressing your opinion from a political or religous point of view on a suibject that is not political or religious doesn't mean a thread should be relegated to PARF. There is a fine line between a political / religous thread/discussion, and a thread/discussion where political/religous views are expressed in a limited way. Just my $0.42.

That said - if enough folks feel this should be moved, then so be it.

I don't feel picked on, though I may need to visit my therapist again soon, if you start talking about clowns.....

While the lack of evidence concerns me, it does not change the fact that I do believe they exist. I don't have any first hand experience with UFO's, but there is enough circumstantial evidence that points to their existence. On the other hand, my faith in God is based on more significant evidence. Two vastly different beliefs.

I can further discuss this evidence, but it is probably not best to discuss it in this thread - so as not to make it a totally PARF-able thread.

-Z-man.

I don't believe in UFO's unless unknown (to the general public) military tech. is considered a UFO. I do suspect the universe is infested with life though. We are very small and very insignificant.

-In the mid-80's I viewed a very fast re-entering satelite/big asteroid. No big deal, until it made an exact 90degree turn.

-Last week I saw the same thing except this one moved like a mosquito: left, right, speed up, slow down, always jinking...
The other stars were dead still so it wasn't my eyes.

Either those were from somewhere else, or a country made some serious modifications to their Su27/F22's.

Sure I believe in them, I have no proof, don't think I have talked to aliens from outer space, but?, to think we are the most intelligent thing in the universe is a little bit much. Ants in a colony think they are the most important thing in their universe. We should know better.
I don't think if you believe in a God it should matter at all, if you believe, why wouldn't the God have done other experiments and if you don't believe in a god, why not believe there are other intellegent life forms traveling out there? We are the ant colony.

UFO's are nothing but free radicals in the universe. The universe, as we call it, is simply another being.

I think that way, sort of, I look at Earth as a living being, we are just parasites that are allowed until we piss it off. Mother Earth. We are the larger ant colony.

You have no proof but you "believe" that they exist anyway? You feel the same way about leprechauns?

There's a giant chasm of logic between "intelligent life may exist elsewhere in the universe" and "I think they are visiting us". The former is a reasonably "agnostic" viewpoint (as we truly have no way of knowing whether life exists elsewhere in the universe) while the latter is delusional.

Since I'm an IPITA (Identified Pain In The Ass), I have to ask:

1) Are you asking "Do you believe that Unidentified Flying Objects exist"?
or
2) Are you asking "Do you believe, as "have faith", in Unidentified Flying Objects?
or
3) Are you asking "Do you believe that all Unidentified Flying Objects have been identified and therefore there are no Unidentified Flying Objects?
