GPS is only as accurate as the military lets it. That GPS I posted last night is accurate to inches.

Porsche-poor 05-10-2011 12:46 PM

inches would be great but only if we are all playing with the same system.

it is my understanding that there is a lot of slop built into civilian GPS systems in order to prevent them being used to guide missiles and such.

Porsche-poor 05-10-2011 01:50 PM

that would be true. I have a friend who has another brand. we can be 10' apart and both gps systems will tell you that your in the same place.

Porsche-poor 05-10-2011 02:51 PM

looks like we have nothing to fear

ah, well. i like sniper. yeah, he has faults, perhaps big big faults. that said, i found him entertaining and would love to have a beer with him. who am i to judge?

Jumped in a plane, flew up the coast to Santa Barbara for a cross country flight and a late lunch. Fun! Good flight.

Porsche-poor 05-10-2011 07:04 PM

do you have your lic yet or are you still working on it?

porsche4life 05-10-2011 07:23 PM

Spent all evening with the trencher and backhoe... We found the water line to the shop....

Still working on it. Getting close. Couple more x-country flights, then I'm set free to fly solo and tool around the aera on my own. Gotta take my written test, pass that, then I can go for the oral and flight tests.

pete3799 05-10-2011 07:27 PM

I take it you weren't looking for said water line?

slodave 05-10-2011 07:27 PM

Sidney, you mean to find the water line?

The easy way or the hard way? As in it leaks now?

Cool I love to fly. Been up in lots or cool planes. Some fast some slow. The Boeing air museum has a full moving flight sim. I managed to scare the crap out of my kid, he does not like to be upside down I guess. Not the same as the real thing but fun.

porsche4life 05-10-2011 07:53 PM

Weren't looking for the line... Cut smooth through it with the trencher... Had to use the backhoe to make a big enough hole to patch the line. No way in hell we were digging down to 24" in a hard packed gravel drive....

And yes, we did have everything required to fix the line right on hand...

Porsche-poor 05-10-2011 07:54 PM

call before you dig!!!!

porsche4life 05-10-2011 07:56 PM

On our own property, we really thought that particular line was about 15' to the east....

Porsche-poor 05-10-2011 07:58 PM

here in WA you call and get them located. dig up something not covered by the location marks they pay. Dig up a utility without have them marked you pay big time.

porsche4life 05-10-2011 08:00 PM

Same thing in OK, but this was our line, on our property, on our side of the meter.... Therefor, no one would locate it....

Porsche-poor 05-10-2011 08:02 PM

I thoubght they would. I might be wrong.
