Mike has a Boxster S, and he's very happy with it.
Despite the girly image some might attribute to them, they are great handling, modern, fast and comfortable. I'm pretty sure you'll like it, no, make that LOVE it. But go for a testdrive first, of course. And what is more, they're cheap! Over here you can find a lot of low milage, well equipped 986 for not much money. If I didn't have a company car, I'd be looking at Boxsters for sure! Whaddoyamean, keeping the 911 forever? :D |
liked my 2001 BoxsterS. If you get one, get the S.
http://www.zipbang.com/Cars/boxster.jpg They like a little throttle in the curvy bits to keep the rear stuck. Once it starts rotating, if you aren't already counter steering, you are only along for the ride. Get the dohickey that lets you operate the top at under 25mph and don't have to have the brake on. The 01 S had 248 hp, needed about 25 more to totally dominate. Very twitchy at speeds over 120. Takes a LOT of attention to go faster than that. Responds well to nice wheels... http://www.zipbang.com/986boxster/RoockonBoxster.jpg Was looking for a BoxsterS with sport chrono package when I came across this... http://www.zipbang.com/Cars/928GTS.jpg And couldn't talk myself out of it. |
Thats what I want to hear, thanks G!
Yes, the 97-02 have dropped considerably in price here too. Well, for all its charm the old 911 just isnīt a daily driver. It is however a 911 and as such the epitome of my classic sports car dreams since boyhood. Its long since payed for, I service it myself and she basically costs me nothing to keep. |
Thanks, Richard!
Yes, I will be looking for an S 00-02 I believe. Preferably around the 40k miles mark. Crossing my fingers the IMS has proved itself sound. |

I call dibs on this one. |
Wow, G! That was a close call opening up the thread. Two nurses in the doorway.

Morning guys, and Markus, I love my Boxcar, fun fun fun, decent mileage and very reliable. Sounds good when you have the pedal on the carpet and the R's way up high. They like to be flogged, and I have the slow 2.5l 97 model, you know the one you are not supposed to buy.

Morning Rick.
Hows things today? |
Dark, a little chilly, but not bad. I am having a good time laughing at all the scared people here. :) My FB is lit up with people trying to figure out what to do when the ground shakes. Good stuff. :)
|
Ah yes I just saw that on the news.
No one hurt I hope? |
Nope it's all good, just some shaking and a few minor aftershocks. It did however take me oven an hour to find one of my cats when I got home last night. She is like most of the people around here, scared of their own shadow. I am going to have some fun today. :)
|
Good news mate.
Glad you found the cat. They can be hard to find when scared. Where was it? |
I have no idea, she just magically reappeared from the other end of the house. To be honest I didn't look too hard for her, I was busy cleaning up the plant stand that was knocked over (I suspect by the missing cat)

Looking at that blue 928.
Those cars were way ahead of the time. Its a great looking car. |
Morning guys,
Rick, you have a Boxster too (and so does Richard). I forgot about that. Maybe you should let me drive that one too when I'm over there... :D So in short, I wanna shoot your guns, drink your booze and drive your cars. (I'll stay clear of your women though. I don't want to be looking in the business end of one of your spoons... ;)) |
Markus, turn your fuhking screen away from the door so they can't see.
All you have to do is look like your reading some medical article, and they won't know your on PP. |
I have driven the S, its a great car.
